Talked to Judy Burns who wrote my all-time favorite scene: The Gauntlet opening gambit, and also wrote Last Stand. Had some interesting comments about the early days of the show.

What a great interview! Unlike hearing that everything in a shows development is peachy, its nice to hear the yin and the yang.

The Gauntlet opening gambit is quite possibly my favourite too. I wish Judy wrote more.

Even to this day, when I think about "MacGyver" the opening gambits for "http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/e4.html" and "http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/thief-of-budapest.html" are what first come to mind.

I think the Map gauntlet is probably one of the most iconic things in MacGyver. Everything from the clothes the macGyverisms to the location and what he's doing is SO iconic of MacGyver.

Nice read. Too bad she had such a bad time on the show. Last Stand is indeed one of the best earlier episodes. How Mac stumbles into a hostage situation, a failed escape attempt, the freezer and the plane finale.

Really interesting hearing how she had the idea of where 'MacGyver' should go and how to get it there, but others couldn't see it.
