As part of his MacGyver re-imaging, show creator Lee David Zlotoff is currently in the process of creating a MacGyver Foundation which will aim to encourage and support individuals and organizations throughout the world who show MacGyveresque qualities to utilize self-reliance, non-violence and sustainability initiatives.

According to Zlotoff, they are still in the process of securing their non-profit status and are hoping to have this completed by early 2013, but in the mean time his new MacGyver Global web site has some of the main objectives as...

• Recognize and support innovative problem-solvers
• Challenge individuals and organizations to tackle specific problems
• Support educational opportunities to help create the next generation of problem-solvers
• Build a community of “MacGyvers” to help others become agents of change

The exact details of how the philanthropist foundation will work are still being worked out, but we've already seen indications that a portion of profits from official merchandise such as the MacGyver t-shirts will go towards funding the Foundation.

Dear Administrator

I like the Idea. I like the film because MacGyver reminds me of my self I'm always fixing things and getting my friends out of trouble and I'm against guns you know whats funny i thought about a similar idea 2/3 years ago and MacGyver the t.v show made me think i had a friend i remember when i was sick i had to stay home from school and i was so down and upset in year 5 and i turned the t.v on and the start of MacGyver came on and i just watched it and i never been happier in my life so MacGyver changed my life and i hope this will change billions of other lives.

Love this idea! I always thought it would be great if the ideals from the show could be spread in the "real world", so to speak. And now, look... it's happening. I'll be *very* interested to see how this turns out.
