On the MacGyver on CBS Facebook page it is posted that the reboot has been nominated for the People's Choice Awards. Though I am trying to stay away until I saw it for myself, I consider this as interesting news. This has got to count for something, don't you think.

Any ideas so far?

Well it certainly is a good sign for the shows future. My only hope is that Lenkov will listen to his negative audience and do the relevant changes we all want. All he ever posts are what the worshipers of the show think and i feel as if we as fans have been cast aside.

Yes I'm starting to get that feeling as well.

He keeps saying he's wanting to honor the original yet continues to completely ignore and feedback on possible improvements.

It's his way and to hell with fans of the old show.

Since the ratings are good , he doesn't care about the fans of the original show anymore . "MacGyver" was just a bait .

I know this is my biased opinion, but I don't think the show is good enough to win any awards...

Then again, one of the reasons I don't watch television anymore is because it's become mindless drivel that bores me to tears. There's no substance, no personality, no depth... MacGyver 2.0 fits into that category. It's typical Hollywood mentality. =P

I spent more than 5 years in the Twilight Fandom, so I know one or two things about the People's Choice Awards (PCAs), MTV Movie Awards (MMAs) and Teen Choice Awards (TCAs), although I'm not a Teen anymore laugh.gif

If a show/movie/star wins such an award, that doesn't mean much about one's skills or the quality of the product. It also doesn't mean a thing for the industry or for your credentials.

Because people can vote more than once, it's all about the fanbase. So of course for years, the YA-Blockbuster got all the awards (Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games) - because the young people have time to vote on social media several times a day for several weeks.

So because not everyone had the same chances to win, they changed the game for some of these awards a few years ago. It used to be the fans that could nominate who would enter the competition. Now it's a jury that nominates for the TCAs and MMAs - which means movies like "12 years a Slave" or actors like Brad Pitt are in competition (let's be honest, that would never have happened otherwise - teens and the MTV Generation of today would still vote for Justin Bieber, "Hannah Montana", Daniel Radcliffe, "Vampire Diaries" or "Pirates of the Caribbean" like they used to).

Also, almost all of these awards shows are rigged: You don't get the trophy if you don't attend the event; even if you have the most votes. If so, the prize goes to second or third place (but the audience doesn't know about it). They probably want the big movie stars to attend - but most of them don't because they don't have the time (or don't care about it). So actors like Johnny Depp (for the Pirate movies) or actors from big franchises like "Star Wars" or "Harry Potter" did often, but actors like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt usually didn't, even if they were nominated.

I guess the cast of MacGyver would attend because CBS could use the free promo. But I'm not sure if the fanbase is big enough and willing to vote like mad maniacs over several weeks. So I doubt they would win because of the votes, but because the winner wasn't there to claim the prize.

It really doesn't deserve any awards. I watch it, and find it mildly entertaining in its own silly way, but there's no denying that it's a pretty feeble show. There are so many more high-quality shows on tv that are much more deserving.

If anyone's interested: Voting is still open until Dec 15: http://vote.peopleschoice.com/?app_data=ca...33;/home/all/67

I have no clue what the chances are to win this. I guess the biggest competition in a fanbase voting would probably be "Lethal Weapon", "Timeless" or "This is Us". At least these are the shows I see people in my Timeline tweet about...

MacGyver won at the Teen Choice Awards, so maybe there's a chance for the People's Choice Awards as well?

You can now nominate your favorites until August 16. Nominating works via website (E-Mail or Facebook log-in): https://pca.eonline.com/tv/the-show-of-2019

Good thing is: it's not US only and nomination limit is 25 (per category per day). So you can nominate "MacGyver" as best show 25 times a day if you want tongue.gif
