Known around here as Dana Elcar's stunt double, who went on to play Gen. Hammond in Stargate, among many other roles, passed away yesterday

I was in shock when I read that Don Davis had died. I watched him in 3rd season MacGyver episodes and then on Stargate SG1 where I learned to really respect him as an actor. This is very sad news.

This is indeed sad news

I always enjoyed watching Don in both MacGyver and SG:1.

In SG:1 he seemed to click with RDA in much the same way as Dana did in MacGyver.

He was to O'Neill as Pete was to MacGyver.

I also read that in lieu of gifts or flowers the family has requested that people make donations to the American Heart Association. Just in case anyone wondered. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Don, who are going through such a loss.

Wow- I'm sad to hear this news. Don Davis was not only a good stunt double for Dana Elcar on MacGyver, but a good actor in his own right, as he obviously proved on Stargate SG-1. My prayers go out to his family. May God comfort them in this sad time.

He's listed in the show credits as a stunt double.

When RDA and Don accepted the award at the 2nd? annual Stuntman awards for the parachute stunt in the opening gambit of the pilot episode. RDA thanked the cameraman for using a long lens becasue Don was taking RDA's place in that shot and he compared the difference in their height and weight.

Rocky - I like your comparison about Don as General Hammond - being Jack O'Neill's friend as well as boss - like Pete was to MacGyver. Nicely put.

I enjoyed watching him in both MacGYver and SG1. I think my favorite SG1 episode is the the first one in Season 3 where he lets out that Texas size 'YEEEE...HAWWWWW'. (at least I think this is the right episode)

He filled some great roles and some great shoes. He will be missed very much.

What sad news. I never really watched Stargate SG1, but saw simulairites between the characteres on that show and the characters on MacGyver. Seems both shows are built around family on and off screen.
