I just saw an ad on TV for this tape. Looks like it's been out for awhile and the MacGyver reference on Wiki piqued my interest. Has anybody tried it yet for some around the house macgyverisms?

No, I've thought about buying some but I rarely use tape other than clear shipping, electrical tape and masking tape. I prefer to fix things the right way and tape (like hillbilly bungee cords) usually doesn't cut it.

Plus I use to use their other product all the time until I learned it isn''t good for very much, and that makes me skeptical of it.

I've been wanting to get my hands on a roll of that stuff since I first found it a few years back but they don't sell it, or ship it here.

Oh for crying out loud, how stupid! I think they pull rules out of their rear end, that's just dumb. Do they think you might commit a crime with tape? Maybe terrorize girls with long hair or use it to post signs with bad stuff about your govornment? Good grief. If you really want a roll of this pm me, I'm always shipping stuff around the world from ebay.

Strangely no. But after reading about it now again, I think I'll stop by a local store and pick one up later. biggrin.gif

I'll tie up my mother in law and see how it works. laugh.gif

Lol Denizen. I just got some at the Home Depot. I wandered around for 15 minutes trying to find it and then had to ask an employee. Shee said 'so you want some 'ape tape' do ya? Guess where they had it stashed? In the paint section of all places. unsure.gif

Anyway, it's priced right, a lot cheaper than 3M duct tape, and comes in 5 different sized packages with varying widths/lengths. Now I just need a project to test it and see if it meets their advert hype .... think I'll try stringing up the neighbor whose been dumping his lawn clippings into the shady corner of my property again. duct.gif

Blablabla, get to steppin and tape something already! lol Go ahead and tape up the neighbor, see if you can actually tape their mouth shut for real. tongue.gif You always see that in movies and tv but it wouldn't actually work unless the person just happed to have no saliva. Or didn't sweat. Heh.

roller.gif You guys are funny. Well they are keeping it in the paint section at my local store too but have still not had the chance to get one. Been a little crazy to say the least.

Yup, let us know how it works, Joe. Looks like very cool stuff. If I don't get the chance to pick one up this week, will definitely drop by on the weekend to get one.

It's really tacky and works at least as well as the consumer duct tapes that I've used and am most familiar with. I couldn't catch up with the neighbor so I strung a pair of 20lb weights up in the maple tree this afternoon and while I mowed the lawn. An hour later, they were still hanging around. So for a preliminary tensile strength and sticktoitiveness test, the ape tape seems to have made a passing grade. duct.gif

laugh.gif That's brilliant! Gotta get me some!!

At least we know this could work on the neighbour so no concerns in case he tries to break free. biggrin.gif

Don't push your luck, Joe. Hopefully the next pic wont have you taping your lawn mower to the tree. Although it could be pretty good PR work for Gorilla Glue roller.gif

Haha, I was thinking of maybe trying an 'apetape bridge' a la what mythbusters designed with duct tape once upon a time.

Okaaaaay, that's quite a test there, holy monkey. I noticed you said consumer duct tape, that got me thinking back to my old job. The duct tape we got from the heating & air conditioning supply store was much stronger than the stuff you got in the hardware, even better than 3M or brand names. I saw military duct tape for sale once, I wonder how that compares.

Well today I decided to go to my local hardware store and purchase a roll of Ape Tape. Wow! Pretty tough stuff! For my first try, decided to use it on my old couch which had a tear in it.

Not exactly what its used for but it works like a charm. The smooth outer layer works as a great surface guard and the sticky bottom binds really well.

I can see me using it for a number of things. Quite happy with my Gorilla Tape! biggrin.gif

Decided to visit another hardware store yesterday where they had a full range of Gorilla Glue/Tape products.

Decided to buy a roll of Camo tape & Clear tape too. Never know what you can use em for. Love the Camo one. Looks amazing.

Their glue products also look very good. They have super glue gel, wood glue, a standard glue which happens to be 100% waterproof & epoxy.

The camo would come in handy when Murdoc is in pursuit and to help build a quick lean-to or trap in the bush. whistle.gif I didn't see any of that at Home Depot though - will have to check some of the other stores. Here's a link that compares their tape products ...

That's great. Haven't seen that comparison page before. Their products are good. Definitely live up to their reputation. As for Gorilla Tape itself, definitely stronger than duct tape for sure.

I will have to put that Gorilla Tape to some good use this weekend. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? biggrin.gif

Should I stick to my original plan of tying up my mother in law? laugh.gif

It's actually that spontaneous-impromptu-fill-a-void need at that last possible moment that I really like about the product(s). It's always sort of a MacGyver-like, if only in a diy and less urgent sort of way.

Instead of tying your MiL up with tape which might present extra problems once she works free, how about engineering a nice gorilla tape plank and having her be the first to test/walk it out!? w00t.gif whistle.gif tongue.gif

I have to say that I have ben using my ape tape recently. More for repairing most of the toys my son breaks. biggrin.gif

Every time we buy him something, we usually estimate a lifetime before it meets its proverbial maker. And since its a common occurrence, the ape always wins!
