I've highlighted the episodes which he hasn't been able to see, due to them not being available on the CBS site. So if anyone else is able to identify the SAKs used in those episode let me know and I'll update the list.

Whoa!
To me a SAK is a SAK. That I mean, red with mostly a Swiss cross on it. Colors can differ from the knives. Really looking at the brand of the knife? It could be possible that the knives he uses differ from the number of functions. The one he used in Serenity seemed only to have 4 or 5 of them, while others could've had more. And of course that little chain in The Gauntlet.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

In most cases, when it says discontinued, it means the knife has either been "discontinued", or modified in more than 3 ways -size, features, and tool addition.
Especially, I want to know the knife used in "The Stringer"!!!

Thanks for sharing that! That sounds like insider info, I'd be interested in knowing where that list came from. Where did Mac use a knife in Last Stand? I seem to remember watching that episode and not seeing one in it.

Yeah, every time I fix it it's fine for a while and then back to the question mark. Whatever. Another episode not online is the Rush to Judgment episode, and I've only seen it once like 8 years ago. I remember he picks the lock on the coke machine with his SAK, but can anyone make out features of the knife? Bleh, I just need to wait until I have the money to buy the complete series and finish the list, too bad you can't purchase individual episodes online or anything.

It is very interesting to discuss about MacGyver knife in each episode.
First, I think that the knife used in the Rush to Judgment is 2 layer knife. But, I agree with krist about it. It seems no key ring, so it may be Standard model.

That would be my consensus. You're right about the keyring thing. It's definitely a 2 layer and bigger than the Executive. We'll go with Standard for that one.

In "THREE FOR THE ROAD" MacGyver first used Camper model.
When MacGyver removed a screw of a (convertible) top, a "CAMPING" mark can be seen.
Then MacGyver used scissors, this model is Climber.
So, MacGyver carries Camper and Climber in "THREE FOR THE ROAD".
rofl . Seriously, I think it is painfully obvious that they just tossed him a random knife at the beginning of any said scene. I'm sure it was "supposed" to be the same knife throughout, but was really happened Im sure is they filmed on two separate days or took a break or something, and picked another knife at random when filming resumed. So, do we conclude MacGyver carries 2 full size SAKs on him some days, or that he pulled one out of his luggage?
EDIT: As often as something happened to his SAK, he could've justified carrying a backup

True, but you missed out the point that there where times when they would have given him a specific knife because of the tool he needed to use in the scene they where filming.

I actually used that idea in "Phoenix Rising" -- and had Mac grumbling because his backup knife was missing one of his preferred blades, and hadn't been sharpened recently. I figured he'd keep a backup in his Jeep.
That's terrific work on the list!

Yeah, they definitely did that a lot. In Three for the Road though, it was kinda unnecessary, he never needed the Camper for the saw, so he could've just used a climber for the whole episode and been fine. Sometimes I think I need psychological help for the way I obsess over the SAK phenomenon in MacGyver

MacGyver often takes 3 or 4 layer knife, but he doesn't use all functions. I wonder why MacGyver takes a Huntsman, Fieldmaster, Deluxe Tinker model.
In "Young MacGyver Pilot", Clay MacGyver takes a Swiss Champ or Champion Plus model, these are 7 or 8 layer knives!!! Is it necessary for him to take a many layer knife? (He used a Magnifying glass, so it is enough to use a Explorer model.)
And does anyone know a knife called "Hunter Knife By Buffaloe" seen in "The Stringer"? I have studied about it, but I can not find it. Please tell me.

Well, I am not going to discount that it is somewhat accurate, but that list seems a little shady- I never saw a deluxe Tinker, and some of the other knives on that list. Granted, there are two or three episodes that I managed to miss during syndication, but for the most part, I think that list has a couple of errors. As for that Buffalo knife, that I do actually believe. I took a stillshot of the knife in the stringer, and it looks like a Ranger, BUT, after showing it to my SAK collector forum, everyone agreed that the backsprings do not lay the way Wenger or Victorinox springs do, and also that the position of the metal saw blade was off in terms of what layer it should have been folded out of. Finally, the shape of the blade itself is a dead giveaway that it was not Vic or Wenger. I suspected it was a different brand, so if anyone could find out about that it would be fantastic. I just called it a Ranger to save confusion on the list, I figured no one would ever notice

As Deluxe Tinker, it may be used in "Jack of Lies". In this episode, MacGyver used a 4 layer knife with Phillips screwdriver and no fish (Fisherman model) or classic car (Grand Prix model) mark. So I think that MacGyver may use a Deluxe Tinker or Fieldmaster model. And in "For Love or Money" MacGyver used a 4 layer knife with corkscrew, it may be an Angler, Explorer, Huntsman, or Mountaineer model.
In "The Stringer" MacGyver and SAM used a knife, it is 5 layer with large blade, tweezers, and saw to cut a flare gun shell. I doubt it is a Hunter Knife by Buffaloe. I have never heard such a brand in Japan.

Yes, so I think the knife may be such a Swiss Style Army Knife as this ebay auction item.
It is hard to think MacGyver uses such a non-brand knife. But several years ago, I bought a MacGyver 100th Episode knife, like this Vintage-Multi-Purpose-Knife (without toothpick, tweezers) in ebay auction.

what part of the episode do we see this knife?
When SAM cut through a flare gun shell with a metal saw (- Sent a smoke shell down a funnel for a distraction), you can see the knife. It is neither Victorinox nor Wenger.
anyone else notice that MacGyver throws the knife to SAM while they're making their water jets, but then we see him cutting something with a knife... then when they up on deck SAM pulls the knife out of his pocket to cut the shell open.
