Hi all. Hope you are all doing well amidst this devasting pandemic that has affected and changed our lives so drastically. It’s been a long time since I've visited and posted anything on these forums... I've had some great interactions with you guys and enjoyed my "role" as being a moderator on the forums some time ago. (Somewhere around 2017 or 2016 – can’t remember) Although it is now time for me to say my goodbyes as I will be closing my account permanently, seeing that I rarely make use of this online internet forum anymore, and of course I have other commitments to attend to. It was great being apart of such an awesome community since 2015. Hopefully this forum will continue to thrive and uphold the legacy and spirt of "MacGyver"! Wishing you all the best! Regards, Michael

Hi Everyone, Been a looooong time! Hope everybody is doing good. Wanted to drop a line and say Hi. Even though I no longer moderate the site, its still good to see how you all are. Been hectic my side and things have been like a rollercoaster. Lots of ups and downs but I'm still alive (Hallelujah ) I do miss your weekly "to do's" and what you all are getting up to. Pandemic or not, life goes on and that is what we do. I feel MacGyver is more relevant now than ever before especially with our worldly state of affairs. It's a pity there is no current show or film that focuses more accurately on our beloved character as his views of the world seemed enlightening and yet still entertaining. Yesterday Richard Dean Anderson announced a return to Stargate SG1 for a live reading session along with Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks. C'mon Rick. How about a live read MacGyver episode? Hmmm.... While the majority of the world is streaming, I'm still holding onto my old fashion ways of physical media but where I have little choice but to connect in order to see something, I do. Hope to chat to all of you again soon. Keep well! denizen

Hello, friends. It's been quite a while since I checked in, but I figured I should hop in for a bit. Lately my brain just doesn't want to cooperate and do what I want it to, so I've been pretty quiet.
Been pretty busy the past year. Myself and my mom decided to move all the way from Minnesota, where I grew up, to Georgia, where my sister lives. So the past year was spent preparing and packing for that, and then in September, my sister's husband died of an OD, so things kinda sped up from there because she didn't want to be alone. So 2022 has been spent trying to settle in a new state and deal with all that. I've basically gone from crowded neighborhood with drug dealers to living on a more spacious property with chickens and bunnies, and one of our bunnies had babies that we get to raise, so that's been fun. At one point we all got stuck in a hotel for ten days because a tree fell over and took out the power, which runs our heat and water as well, and that took ten days to get fixed.
I've been trying to learn some new things myself, working on art and trying to learn editing. I also managed to buy myself a switch last year, so I get to play some new games as well. So all-in-all, it's been okay despite the whole pandemic and the world being turned upside down what seems like every other month.

QUOTE (Barry Rowland @ 12 June 2022 - 09:16 AM) | Hi Dragon dog! It's great to see you here again. I'm very sorry for your loss, and I hope you get settled in to your new home. The countryside is different, but I think you're going to like it. I love staring at the stars at night and watching the different animals running around and living their day to day lived.
Keep in touch! It seems lonely around here lately. |
So far I like it here. And you're not kidding about the animals. Since moving I've watched multiple birds' nests with babies grow up, seen countless lizards, frogs, and salamanders, watched baby chicks hatch, watched one of our bunnies give birth and the babies grow up, and heard coyotes screaming at night. Downfall is the bugs. Lots of bugs.
I'll try to remember to check in more. Seems pretty quiet around here. I missed this place.

Same!! I've been visiting a bit more often. I feel bad I haven't been active in the community. Just had a lot of personal stuff going on that I needed to take care of. Things have gotten a LOT better in the past six months, so I'm a much happier person now. I contribute a lot of that to the friends I've made at Amazon, but also the attitude I learned from MacGyver. Despite the work environment and low mental health, I continued to be friendly and helped where ever I could... now I'm a well respected associate and a top tier processor in the Problem Solve department. Is it hard? Yes. But at the end of the day, I'm pretty happy!

So far our garden has: peapods, tomatoes, green bell peppers, gourds, watermelons, corn cobs, cabbage, lettuce, carrots (which aren't really growing because they like cold and it's summer and we're in Georgia), potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, asparagus, cantaloupe, zucchini, beans, artichokes, beets, radishes, acorn squash, kohlrabi, kale, spinach, grapes, blueberries, mint, basil, marigolds, sunflowers, and cucumbers

Hi Guys, Hope you are all well. Thought I'd drop a "what's everyone up to?" post just for the hell of it! Things are still up and about on my side. A day before the weekend and I can't wait for it enough. Everyone has been ill on my side (just a regular cold) passing of the season. @Jedi: Hope you are doing well, especially at Amazon. Speaking of I have been waiting 5 days now on an order that has yet to ship? Can I forward the complaint to you? (Just kidding). I actually bought myself a Jeep Compass last year which has been driving well. I do however have one complaint and that is the radio. Gosh, it's an awful U-Connect radio that immediately asks me what I want to do (Bearing in mind that I have not said a word). Gas could be a little better but I've driven worse. Overall its a nice driving experience. @MacGyverOnline: Site still looks spiffy, hope you an your fam are keeping well. @MacGyverGod: What's been happening? Hope you have managed to get yourself a good well deserved job and curious to know what you have recently seen and or played. @Barry_Rowland: Been a long time Barry. Hope you an your fam are keeping well. @DashboardOnFire: Hey Dash, things are looking in order! Keep well everyone. Have a good weekend and speak soon. denizen

Hi Guys!
Great to hear from everyone's last posts.
I had something on my mind i wanted to share. It is not aimed at anyone. It was just a general thought of current affairs.
It seems as though the world has gone mad. Not sure if you have picked up on that or if it's just me.
Aggressive behavior, social media trolling, nuclear threats and business enterprises at economic war with each other. Although the past wasn't necessarily better, it certainly felt simpler. Nowadays, people attack whoever they want and at any cost & I can't help but ask, what about the human spirit?
In the past, people lacked the ability to openly express themselves due to limitations in technology but being able to share their opinions on political affairs, films, celebrities, gaming or whatever is trending has giving us something more than the ability to comment. Arrogance. Gone is the respect we bestow to others and here is the full blown anger we vent because its the perfect window to express ourselves.
It is sad that they've subjected themselves to such lengths that they no longer carry the respect they should give to others.
Each time I open a post or see an article or watch a YouTube video, it is always filled with resentment or anger toward an idea, product, person or story. It has made us big to opinionating on platforms but small to going out and showing our support. Even one day while I was driving, I couldn't help but notice the aggressive behavior of other drivers as opposed to being courteous.
We have a become a proverbial fuse about to explode.
It's times like this that I look back on our hero, Mac, who always shared his positive thought process on others and enlightened their lives with hope. And perhaps its in all of us fans that need to take that wisdom and pass it forward.
