Is that a show where celebrities are paired up with professional dancers and they compete against each other? We have a show over here like that called “strictly come dancing” I think. I’ve never really watched it mainly cause I have no clue who these people are and am not really in to watching dancing done well so watching it done badly didn’t strike me as fun viewing. I mostly have an aversion to watching “celebrities” on reality game shows and such like. I say mostly, because I found myself watching celebrity dancing on ice. Mainly because I actually knew who one of the celebrities were (Captain Jack off of the new Dr Who). He was pretty good cause he was comfortable on the ice already from his ice hockey days.
Oh, and another one I had to have a look at was the Big Brother when Face from the A-Team was on it. RDA should really NOT consider doing that one.

Well - Apart from me who has just waffled on so far! laugh.gif

Ok. To answer your question - I don't think RDA needs to do shows like these. I'm not sure if your show is like the one we have but if it is I don't think RDA should do it.
But, going by my above waffle, if he did, I’d probably watch no matter how much I don’t like the show. tongue.gif

Ohhhh, here we go. You posted on a discussion board. People are going to respond with their opinions and thoughts. I don't know you from Adam and I didn't say anything against RDA.

Seems to me that the problem isn't that we're being critical but that you are too sensitive. Just because you "really think he should!" and others don't, doesn't mean you or RDA are being slammed. (maybe the show, but not necessarily)

So seeing how you're on a discussion board and no one is trying to hurt your feelings, lighten up. Otherwise when you post, add a disclaimer that you only want replies that concur with your original thought. dry.gif

Is a discussion about discussion anything like a debate on the meaning of meaning? Never mind. I won't go down that road without at least a beer handy, preferably something stronger.

I have never watched "Dancing With the Stars"; I get the impression that, unlike some reality shows, it isn't a completely automatic kiss of death if the star in question is a really good dancer -- especially if it's someone with a strong competitive streak, a desire to show well, and the enthusiasm and energy to throw himself into the competition (at considerable risk to personal dignity).

RDA certainly has the competitive core and the ability to give his all to an endeavour. And I have to admit I'd love to see him do some really great dance moves (where's my mop?), but I have no idea how good his dancing is.

More to the point, top-notch competitive dancing is incredibly hard on the body. RDA has had so much damage to and subsequent surgery on his knees, feet, etc., that I doubt he could do it without severe pain and possibly further damage, and I'm not about to wish that on him. That would not be good whump.

Don't get me started on discussions.. I try to stay away from them as far as possible.
I participated in a debate on Halo3 on RDA.com. And somehow everyone's entitled to have an opinion, but I usually disagree with everyone (I'm a rebel, cannot help it laugh.gif ) and I mostly get ignored or flamed.

Sooooo, no discussion for me anymore biggrin.gif

No offence here, Macs_fan, but I must say...

... I do not picture RDA on a show like that. At least in my country it is a bit of a silly show and it does not appeal to me as something I would like to see him on.

Sorry for disagreeing!

I don't think it would ruin his career. I think only certain types of celebrities appear on that show. Stars trying to break out and stars in their twilight years. AKA wannabees and hasbeens.

So if RDA were to appear on that show, his career would already be ruined.

Just my opinion.

I'm going back to the question of physical limitations -- competitive dancing is physically brutal. It would put RDA in a wheelchair, and I'm not about to wish that on him. A man who's already carved that many notches on the hospital bedposts for knee, foot, and back injuries has no business taking on a regimen of 12-hour days in the dance studio.

If he's going to go back in front of the cameras, and tackle the 12-hour workdays, he can do a new series and skip the reality shows!

We're discussing the question you posed.

Thats how a discussion works. Everyone puts their ideas and/or points of view across.

Disagreeing with someone isn't arguing nor should it be offensive.

Well, I'm certainly not trying to be offensive either, but I agree that he shouldn't do a show like Dancing with the Stars. All the people I've seen on there end up looking ridiculous, and it's sad and humiliating, too, because sometimes I like some of the people featured. I think if you are a celebrity with some dance talent, then go for it, but most of them shouldn't go on there. I danced for over 13 years in tap, jazz, and ballet, and I still dance, and yes, it is physically demanding. You have to be pretty well coordinated and have a sense of musical timing to look even halfway decent. RDA doesn't strike me as someone who likes to dance very much. He's more into sports. Interesting question, though.
