Yep, that's Jennette Goldstein. She's one of the few who made it to small parts in big movies. She also shows up in Aliens (with a crew cut), Lethal Weapon 2, Fair Game 1995, Titanic (there also other cast members of Mac. Benjamin Guggenheim is played by the actor who played Proffesor Wycliff in Legend of the Holy Rose) and she also has guest appearance in one or two episodes of 24.

When Prometheus's creepy voice started up, my son was TOTALLY convinced it was going to be Murdoc behind the fires
I really didn't recognise Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez from Aliens) in this one - she looks so different! I did recognise Jack McGee though - I remember him from a particularly cheesy series called Space Rangers, alongside Marjorie Monaghan, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Jeff Kaake... Anyone else owning up to being a fan of that one?!
I think the old 'old friend' connection is often implicit within the opening dialogue. The fact that Mac has to mention/reemphasize the relationship 5 minutes down the road seems a bit like the Department of Redundancy Department. The mental imagery it presents can be very effective if not over done. Agreed that's it slightly overcooked in this particular series. Not too bad though. This episode scores above average for it's cinematography, score, sound effects, & those suspenseful time/countdown scenes. I liked it.
The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man's determination.

This episode give me goosebumps everytime. Each time when Prometheus locks the door behind Mac in the newspaper building makes my skin crawl. I really love that moment, Mac trying to open it and Prometheus adressing him to he can better give up and make peace with his fate. He just stands there against the door looking at the bomb, his eyes dark (great lighting use), there's the soft percussion in the music and you can see that he realizes that he has been set up and walked straight into the trap. I really like that part.

Dave Florek played also Will Smith's coach in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and Jack McGee played a part in Lethal Weapon 2, a deleted scene in 3 and in Breakdown with Kurt Russell.

Second, who cares if an abandoned building blows up? It's worth risking your life for? Didn't make sense to me. Third, the fires previous to what we see are huge, five alarm fires, yet every time a bomb explodes, it's just a small, contained bomb that does little to no damage to the building. Hated the ridiculously *moooo*y female cop as well.
I think the point was for Mac to find out how the bomb was made, to make it easier to find the bomber and also know how to defuse future bombs.
Also, why the hate for Rachel? She had been permanently disfigured in the course of her job, yet her boss was blatantly disrespectful to her. Why would he not put her in charge of trying to draw up a psychological profile of the offender? That would still have left the rest of his team to help him do things his way.
Then, once he died, the people who were now working for her were spiteful and openly suggested that she had wanted Earl to die so she could get his job. I'm not surprised she was quite defensive when Mac wanted to become involved. She didn't know him and didn't want to get the blame if anything happened to him. Which her spiteful team would have blamed her for.
I'm glad that Mac knew she hadn't wanted Earl to die.
