Todays thought is......If it's not working and it's no good broke then what have you got to lose by trying to fix it?
Today's successes - three dead torches, two took a screwdriver and new batteries - easy, the mini-Maglite resisted new batteries - the old ones weren't dead according to my multi-meter, but it was still worth trying a new set, it also resisted a new bulb, in the finish I prised it into as many bits as I could get it into then tweaked all the contacts up and rebuilt it and miraculously it worked.
Tomorrow's task is shopping for new bulbs for that rotten car of mine - out last night and I lost the headlight of the side I fixed the sidelight on the other day - I knew I should have changed it at the same time - it probably objected to the 'jiggling' of the light cluster when I did the sidelight. I came home on the front fogs and one dipped beam instead. The car is very dead-set on blowing headlights, I've done about 8 in five years - the garage says there is nothing they can find wrong and so I just carry on replacing the bulbs - the trouble is I haven't gotten round to replacing the spare headlight from the last one to blow, so I am off shopping tomorrow morning. I think I will buy 4 this time - and replace the spare sidelight one too. I've got it down to a fine art now - I can drop-out the headlight cluster in about 45 seconds, and even do the tricky main bulb install in about 2 minutes now. Mind you the frequency of the job says it's a skill well worth having. LOL
Today's second thought is.....if you live in a house when you can never find the household 'men's' tools when you want to do a job, buy your own and hide them!! Says the woman with a multi-meter, a set of screwdrivers, a huge Halfords pro toolset, electric drill....etc.......you get the idea!!! That way a 10 minute job is......a ten minute job!!
