MacGyver Online Forums > Richard Dean Anderson > RDA at Salt Lake Comic Con Utah

Posted by: DashboardOnFire 23 September 2017 - 03:54 AM
RDA is at Salt Lake Comic Con in Utah this weekend. Here's a video of the full panel he did yesterday.

The quality isn't always the best, but I've only seen parts on YouTube otherwise.

He talks about his favorite tool on an SAK, the MacGyver Reboot, the hair, Legends, Stargate and more.

Here's one of the official videos of the SLCC account:

Nice autograph story - the picture had to wait 30 years to get signed at SLCC.

Christopher Judge from Stargate is there as well. They did some of the foto-sessions together; that's a nice opportunity for fans since while they're often at the same conventions, they never do a panel together.

I sometimes think RDA wears weird pants but this time, he looks completely unmemorable next to Chris laugh.gif

RDA also stopped by the Humane Society. Several stars help promoting the "adopt, don't shop" campaign.

There is an embedding function on Instagram, but it doesn't work in the forum.

So watch the short video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZXL6OGhxUd/

That's so cool!! I'm a big supporter of Humane Society, so this is very cool!

Nice pictures. RDA indeed has a silly way of dressing... a little dorky perhaps. When I met him he wore this three quarter pants and a black T-shirt. But it's also uncomplicated and comfortable and definitely the MacGyver side in him, informal...

With his love for dogs he should make a dog movie. I always thought he should've done Richard Gere's part in Hachi: A Dog's Tale. I still hope he gets the chance to make one.

I might have missed this somewhere, but does he have anything in the works as far as movies, tv goes?

Posted by: MacGyverGod 25 September 2017 - 04:38 AM
Nope, nothing since 2013. Actually his filmography is not that impressive at all with only 31 projects in total. Then again if you spend ten years on SG-1 and 7 years on MacGyver, two major and popular shows, who needs a movie career?

Though I think I would like to see him do perhaps a little voice work here or there for games and animation or some small movies. Did you know he did voice work on the first Fallout game in 1997, right before Firehouse and he also did the voicework for an IPad SG-1 game?

Massive Pit Bull brawl (to ban! or not) going on in North America at the present. Would be interested to hear his (being a big dog lover and a very straight shooter in his opinons) thoughts/sway on the issue ....... if he hasn't already ..... ?

Yeeesss!!! His voice and likeness was used for Killian Darkwater in the original Fallout. Boy did I geek out over that one. lol Everyone knows I'm a big Fallout fan.

I had Stargate SG-1 Unleashed on my phone as well.

I always liked the idea of RDA getting into voice over acting. I think it would suit him if he wanted to continue his career with minimal physical activity. He would just have to show up, no make up or dress up required. It's why I've still held onto the idea of a MacGyver video game or CGI movie... even if speculation is all I'm able to do. It's still fun to think about.

This is great!! Doing voices for games and stuff would be nice for him to make a little money on the side.

Besides did you know that Kai Wulff did voices for Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb and Tomb Raider? Pretty much everything from the last 16 years he did were voices for videogames.

Als Bruce McGill voiced Simon Turner for Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

Posted by: Jediferret 25 September 2017 - 12:22 PM
I didn't know either of those actually, but it doesn't surprise me. It's still cool though. A lot of celebrities have been getting into voice over acting. Heck, even Michael Des Barres is doing some sort of upcoming VO project. I tried to find out, but it's currently hush hush. Which reminds me, I never replied to him... dang it, I'm awful at keeping up with Twitter... lol

Can I hire someone to be me for a while? XD

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine takes me back a while. My parents played the crap out of that game.

Here's the panel in better quality since it's from an official video:

So did I.

I think at another convention recently, he mentioned having something in the works, but that it's too early to talk about it. But it's not the first time he said that, so... wink.gif

I always thought voice-over-work would be perfect for him. Not just because I really like his voice tongue.gif , but because I also think he would really enjoy it.

Also, not as tiring work days physically as being on a set, often waiting for hours until it's your turn. He often prefers standing at conventions because of his back troubles, so that would be a plus as well.

George Eads and Lucas Till do that Michael Jackson Halloween Special for CBS - if they can fit in their voice-over-roles between shooting a TV show, I'm sure RDA could find the time for some V/O-roles *pleeeeease pretty please*

Posted by: DashboardOnFire 25 September 2017 - 01:09 PM
Ah. There we have it. At around 8 minutes 25, RDA says he would love to do some animation thing because you can do that while sitting around in your underwear laugh.gif

It's simply awesome. That story on the mullet was great. He still laughing about the hair stylist after nearly thirty years. Best man ever!
