I transferred rather quickly over the grief stage and went right to anger
I still don't think the cancellation was justified and I feel sad for the cast and crew. I just can't fathom why CBS went through the hassle to appoint a new showrunner and film another half-season during the pandemic just to call it quits anyway.
Especially when seeing they still have reruns of cancelled shows "Mom" and "NCIS: New Orleans" on the schedule because they don't have enough material over Summer. And especially when seeing the weird schedule they have for next Fall. I feel like having 7 "Alphabet Shows" (3 NCIS and 3 FBIs plus CSI) will hurt them sooner than later. And people won't subscribe to Paramount + just because they're going to push "SEAL Team" there after 5 episodes, so that show might be cancelled soon, as well.

Oh I am angry. I am also annoyed that unlike say Bond or Batman (which even during delays or development hell there are still plenty of books, comic books, video games etc) Macgyver has very little outside of the 2 tv shows...
Which now that I think about it I have said this multiple times but why doesn't Mac have more of presence in Books, Comic books and video games..
to bee completely honest there are 2 franchises I feel should have far more then what we got Macgyver and Highlander...
And unlike Highlander which has a bunch of failed attempts at video games apart from a halfway decent mobile game there was NEVER a macgyver video game in development for any system period...
this is INSANE in my opinion
you look at stealth game like Hitman and Splinter Cell and realize Mac should be right along side. Hell Phonex fire from the original series feels like a video game lol
but oh well I wont start the one book till September as I feel that is my "season 6"

Peter Lenkov feeling chatty on Instagram today... Does that warrant a Spoiler Alert? Probably not, since it's FanFiction now. Here's PL's vision of MacGyver's endgame (posted on Insta)

Who knows when he even wrote this, to satisfy nowadays fans.
Guy has no shame obviously.
on the one Hand I thasnk Peter for getting Ma off the ground
on the other hand I don't think the original idea from the writer of NCIS was that bad would it of lasted 5 seasons maybe maybe not but it wouldn't of been that bad
if memory serves me correct Mac is a War veteran who was kidnapped by an Illuminati type grpoup and then being back i the states he works with Lincoln to expose that that group is working stateside (I believe that was it)
and Honestly that didn't sound aweful
but the trailer came out people complained about everything CBS panicked grabbed Lenokv to do a page 1 rewrite and here we are.

Lenkov posting about MacGyver on social media after all this time is probably one of the few plot twists I didn't see coming...
I remember him talking in an interview about the H50 ending scene; stating he had written it years ago and kept it in mind when the time came. Totally neglecting that a ton of stuff happend during the years in between. That might as well have happened here. Maybe he wrote it in his mind in S1 and just stubbornly wanted to see it come to fruition; no matter if it makes sense anymore or not.
Or maybe he has finally advanced to MacGyver during his psychotherapy sessions

I don't see how that was an organic write up when from season 1 it looked like, and people were wondering about Riley and Bozer, why Riley won't give Bozer a chance , etc etc. Now I'm suppose to believe he believed in MacRiley, from the beginning.......k

I think they were going for Bozer and Riley as long as Bozer was thought to be a recurring character; bookending the episodes only. This was probably a direct follow-up of Lenkov re-writing the unaired pilot script (which had Mac's best friend Gunner dating Mac's ex-high-school-love during Mac being held as a prisoner of war).
It was Lenkov who expanded his role and brought him into the Phoenix by 1x08. That's when they suddenly dropped the storylines of Bozer getting her number or posing as a boyfriend for that after-prison-councellor (whatever the name is in English, sorry ).
Maybe he had the idea of Mac and Riley early on, while CBS pushed for a black couple. Or vice versa. Which ever it was, Lenkov has a tendency to go for the plot-twists with time-jumps. Which IMO doesn't turn out well and leads to flip-flopping storylines. I've seen it on H50, too.
Look at Bozer and Leanna (cut scene of them waking up in bed the morning after without us seeing them dating first), Mac and Desi (cut from one potential date to a finished relationship), Mac and Nasha (dating for 3 months off-screen), and apparently Mac and Riley (potential marriage with kid off-screen used as a foil for a season finale shocker). He doesn't have the patience of building up romantic couples between regulars - no wonder, with him dropping so many female characters after 12 episodes or less (Thornton, Cage, Leanna, Nasha).
That's why I think he's better at writing for movies, not for long-lasting TV shows.

That's a concise assessment
