I voted for good. This was good episode. MacGyver is in his good old jeep for nearly the entire episode. Also another good episode to show that you can do everything with your car in case of emergency and also those tools of whatever you find you can use.

Another good episode. You do get to see a lot of MacGyver's jeep in this episode and that's neat. MacGyver helps deliver a baby, well they had to do one of those kinds of episodes at some point. But it was good with neat MacGyverisms as usual.

I love it when the woman says to Mac, You never give up, do you? And he says, No, ma'am, I don't.
And he didn't actually help deliver the baby--he got awfully scared when he thought she was going to give birth right in front of him. Fortunately, if I remember right, she was able to hold off till the ambulance got there.

That' right! I remember now! He had to tell the baby to stop the contractions and then the woman reported that they did stop! And Mac says, "Good kid."
QUOTE (Alex-Wylie May 1 2005 @ 09:12 AM )
Yeah that was really cute when he whispered to the baby "Not now!" and then the mother told him that the contraction had stopped and actually (sorry, for beeing a smartass, I just like his orignal voice and lines so much that I know most of them.) "Well behaved kid!"
I also like
Elaine: "I'm all alone out there."
Mac: He's all alone in there.
And so many neat MacGyverismn! Fore example the one with the flags, so

Oh shoot! I was going to say that.. Yeah I liked when Mac said not now hehehehe.. Anyway this was a really good episode. I was the first person to vote and I voted excellent.. He really helped that woman. He thought the baby was going to be a boy but it turned out to be a girl.. To bad Mac didn't deliver the baby.. I wonder what would have happened if he did. That would have been another experience that he had experienced..

I only saw part of this one, like the last half or so. I remember the part with the flags, though, and the guys who saw them (I think they were cops or military or something) and one of them said something like, "Hey, look at that. Someone knows how to get attention... and they're in trouble." I'm waiting for this one to come out on DVD so I can see the whole thing.

MacGyver + children or babies = always entertaining.
I love the interaction between MacGyver and the gas station attendant.
I just noticed that in the scene where Mac is being chased by the guys after the women.. as he's driving around the warehouse area.. the left hand break light on the back of the jeep isn't working.
We see the right hand one go on a couple of times as Mac touches the brakes, but the left one isn't working.
Once they are in the pit, both lights start working again.. I guess it makes sense that they used more than one jeep for the episode.. means they can be setting up multiple scenes at once and film them back to back.

I loved the claustrophobic feeling of this episode, how it almost seemed impossible for MacGyver and Elaine to escape from the abandoned warehouse, so many obstacles and challenges in their path--a great setup for our Mac. I also loved how his jeep became a character of its own in a way, and how Mac interacted with the grumpy gas station attendant.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."
When MacGyvers jeep falls into the pit.. he drives along and then gets out at the end of the pit and we see theres quite a lot of room between the end of the pit and the end of the warehouse....
SO....
why did MacGyver even try to drive over the pit?
Wouldn't your natural instinct be to look to drive AROUND the pit, which we see was more than possible. All he had to do was look over and see that there was plenty of room to drive around the pit.

I don't think it was a wrong decision to drive on the ramp because it was the shortest way to cross the pit, especially when the iron plank was so neatly placed over the pit.
This was a really fun episode. It would have been great if that woman had just been a bit less annoying (what is it with so many women in this series being annoying?)

I had noticed that too. I thought at one time maybe he was using his turn single. Which I didn't think was smart. I also noticed that he changed his tire at the gas station, he still had a spare tire on the back of the jeep.
I also noticed that when he tied up the first two men, he gagged one, and left the other one ungagged. Which let him yell for help; that didn't make any since to me, I guess it did to Mac.

I really liked this episdode because it featured his Jeep a lot. The Jeep saves the day. Yay!
It was also an interesting storyline in that he's dealing with a woman in labor. Would've been interesting to see him deliever that baby, then he could add midwife to his repertoire.

I've just seen the episode last night and voted for "OK". I've been wondering: what kind of jacket is Mac wearing in this episode? What bag has he got for his fishing gear? Is it a Filson? BTW: it's got a tartan-ining...

I really like this episode--in fact, I think this was one of the first episodes I saw, and I have some kind of a vague memory that I just switched it on when he was setting up the flags. I remember I really found it ingenious at the time.
Someone has already mentioned that the Jeep felt like a character of its own in this episode. Wrangler must have been happy! I think very few of us didn't feel the temptation to get our hands on the steering wheel of a real Wrangler after the end credits stopped rolling...
Though there are quite a few inconsistencies--the most obvious that the spare wheel is still attached to the back of the Jeep, though he supposedly used it--there are many little things that I just love. Mac's look when the woman remarks that some people complain about *female* drivers... priceless!
Naturally, I also love when he talks to the baby in the uterus, and the look on his face when he realizes that she actually might be about to give birth right away.
Throughout the episode, we get many more examples of that Mac isn't perfect--he misjudges the strength of that metal ramp, he hurts his hand on the wire, etc, etc... But he'll never give up. ("No, ma'm!") Despite his fear, he's acting very calm and composed in front of her, making her feeling so much better about herself.
Some might have found Elaine annoying, however, I didn't. I thought she was pretty composed for a woman who was going into labor!

Actually this jeep is very useful and this episode shows how well is it. But if Mac would have a Ferrari or another sport car so the he would had a big problem, because no winch or enough ground clearance and not forgetting the four wheel drive.

Exactly! The Jeep is very useful, more so than most cars. That's why he's driving a Jeep; it fits his personality in so many ways. OK, I know he had a few other cars too, but the Jeep was always at his parking lot.
I like how optimistic Mac remains, no matter how many things go wrong and how much the odds are stacked against them. I also like the look of raw panic that crosses his face when he thinks the baby's going to arrive... "NOW?!"
Good Jeep based MacGyverisms, pretty good damsel in distress and nicely cheesy bad guys. I voted good.

RDA has owned a Jeep CJ7, so maybe thats why they added jeep for the character and thinking about capabilities of that vehicle...still tough vehicle, if its looks litlle rugged.

I watched the Lethal Weapon (1987) in friday and noticed that the scene where Murtaugh was tortured, was filmed in same boiler room what was in Birthday episode. Film called The Driver (1978) was also filmed in same location.

Hmm?
Interesting to think about. Well it is in Los Angeles. Also interesting is that in Lethal Weapon this is supposed the back of the club in the middle of town.
At the beginning of the episode when Elaine and Andrew are talking, Andrew touches her and I could've sworn she mouths are really bad word.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

This is a good episode for sure. It has a cool storyline, nice macgyverisms and one of the highlights is the location. That factory gave a lot of possibilities in terms of macgyverisms.
This episode feels like a jack reacher adventure, here we have Mac minding his own business, when all of sudden he has to help a lady in trouble

This was a really fun episode. It would have been great if that woman had just been a bit less annoying (what is it with so many women in this series being annoying?)
Considering she (a) was intermittently in a lot of pain and (b) had just realised that her husband had totally deceived her, she was surprisingly upbeat.

I thought Elaine was one of the stronger female "side-kicks". Her and Mac worked well together and they seemed to have the same sense of humor. I thought she had some really good lines.
