Matty reveals a shocking secret to the team: she has a husband who’s been undercover in a criminal organization called D-Company for eight years. When his status as a CIA agent comes out, Matty needs MacGyver to find and extract her husband before it’s too late.

That's the first time a MacGyver reboot episode broke my heart as much as a Voltron episode
The hand-shake after Mac punched the guy
Bozer's pastrami is going to pop up every year, I guess
Matty and Mac bonding
Considering Bozer doesn't know how to "let [Mac] down gently", I can understand why he's afraid of heights
Seriously though, seeing Matty lose her composure to the point where Jack has to comfort her and calm her down shook me up. Amazing acting on Meredith Eaton's part

I forgot about the new series when the hockey playoffs started last spring. First episode that I've watched since. Not bad entertainment but those short clip durations still make me a bit nauseous, and could they please upgrade that cheesy conputer graphic of the company jet zooming along, such an abomination to TOS and Mac driving along solo in the Wrangler.

The drone did seem a bit size challenged to provide lift to 160lb+ man. That wasn't my concern though - it was who was controlling it! You just don't get the feeling that Bozer, from the past we know, is the candidate for such a precision job .... and then he kinda drops him for a bit of comedy schtick.

Overall I liked this episode. 1) one mission focus YAY I prefer this to split narratives. 2) great acting all around 3) Mac/ Mattie moments; good character development 4) opening Phoenix scene with Mac in his holiday best; love that jacket! 5) family aspect 6) Jack entering a room first to protect his boy 7) emphasis on sacrifices of operatives 8) a rollercoaster ride of emotions
I still don't get Bozer as a field agent. I don't think I'd want to depend on him to save me
Still not a fan of Leanna. They try to make her a badass shooting, punching, flying helicopters but it doesn't work for me. Don't like her. As Bozer's girl fine, but not part of the team.
Ethan's daughter looked older than 2 (he said he went dark when she was born).
The reboot again won against LSM in audience numbers. If it doesn't loose to much for the final adjustment, this episode will be the one with the second highest audience number this season.
The demo seems to settle on 0.7.

Well, now.
I think I just saw one of the best episodes of the series (so far, if not the best) and I would've never thought it would be a Matty-centric episode.
For starters, I'm very impressed with Meredith's acting skills. She can smile and so genuinly, love her crying too, actually. This was I think also the first mission everyone was in the field.
It was a nice fleshing out of Matty's character and I loved how Jack supported her, while maybe that was more Mac's job? A great development in character and I'm starting to like her more then I did before.
A couple of other great moments on how Mac decides to save an innocent woman. Couple of episodes ago I read here that this Mac doesn't care about human life? But he sure does.
The classic handshake after punching a guy out.
Yes, this was a good one.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
