Hi everyone!

I would just like to let you all know that I am soon to be moving interstate due to work (nerve-wracking but exciting!) and after today, will be posting very infrequently until I can get computers set-up at my new location (or until I find a computer with internet access! biggrin.gif ).

I think that I'll go slightly mad without my daily dose of MOL - actually that's guaranteed ... so please excuse my excited ramblings when I am able to post! laugh.gif

Everyone have a wonderful and enjoyable time posting on MOL and in your own lives! clapping.gif

Ahh... As you can tell, I didn't pay attention in geography class. I didn't know Australia had states.

Well, get the computer set up fast, 'cause we're going to miss you! In the US, almost every public library has computers with internet access that are available to anyone -- have you got anything like that in Oz? Here, you have to either have a library card or ask for a temporary user ID, and most libraries limit your time to an hour or even half an hour. But it's free, and it's usually a T-1 line, so it's fast. It's one of my favourite cheapie tricks for road trips; I once won an Ebay auction from a library.

Best of luck with the changes, and travel safely!

'Beth

You're not the only one. blush.gif I just assumed they were goofy like the Canandians ( tongue.gif ) and had proviences or territiories. I mean really... who calls a state Western Australia?? huh.gif

Anywho. I guess I'll have to wait until you back for the official answer. I found a bunch of references to "going interstate" but I can't find the definition of the idiom. sad.gif

So, yeah, anyway. unsure.gif Oh yeah... Good luck. smile.gif

Ahhh ... confusion! I like causing confusion! biggrin.gif Moving interstate means travelling from one part of the country to another (Australia is divided into different "states" ... therefore I am moving interstate.) Interstate meaning that I am moving within Australia. (It made sense to me ... *whimpers*).

As Australia's not so big, any reasonably large move is cause for excitable panic as we tend to stick to the same areas ... that's my excuse anyway!

I'm unable to start my new job yet ... as we still have building contractors working on the place (something that was supposed to be finished looonnng before now), so at the moment I am staying at temporary accommodation (more expensive than renting!) and frantically waiting 'till I can start work, have access to the internet biggrin.gif , and get paid!!

It means the same thing it would mean in America. It's just moving from one state to another- which may not be too big a deal if you're going from South Carolina to Georgia or something- but if you're going from say, Florida to Washington state- that could be a move! ohmy.gif
(Of course, if it's to Hawaii- then no complaints there biggrin.gif )

If it was intrastate, it would just mean that you're moving somewhere within a state.

(And most of you probably already knew the difference between those two- but I always tend to mix them up- so I looked them up to be sure.)

Oh yeah- good luck with the move! By the way, the Oz reference reminded me- does that mean Dorothy and Toto actually visited Australia when they visited the wonderful Wizard of Oz? wink.gif
