How far through the show, or at what point, did you realize that you where a truly hook line and sinkered MacGyver fan?

For me, as far as I can remember, it would have been season 3, it was either the lost love episode or Rock the cradle I think. That's when I decided I wanted to start recording the episodes each week, so I could re-watch them any time I liked.

So I think that would probably have been about the time that MacGyver really clicked for me.

I saw RDA on $25,000 Pyramid in the early 1980's and that is when I got hooked on him. So by the time MacGyver came around I was excited that I'd get to see him every week. So I guess you could say that for me it was with the preveiws. I've been an RDA fan from then on and followed his shows and movies since. I followed him to Stargate SG1.

1989---I began watching MacGyver on the USA channel. The first first-run eppy that I saw was Cease Fire.

In 1989 is when I got hooked on MacGyver and it was on Monday nights 8PM on NBC. The Widowmaker was my first episode even though I saw it the week before at a friend's house. For some strange reason it was showing that episode again.

I caught the show by accident during the first season. I was trying to watch whatever came on after it, but for some reason, everything was delayed that night, so MacGyver was still on. The episode was Hellfire. I only caught the last half of it, but I really enjoyed the tension in it, watching them trying to drive the explosives to the oil rig.
So I tuned in again the following week. And the week after. And after that. Etc, etc.
I think my biggest level of "fandom" came about during seasons 4 and 5, for whatever reason. Maybe I was just the right age at that time.
By season 6 and 7, I still enjoyed it, but I had to reluctantly admit to myself that it wasn't quite as good as it had once been, and I started to miss the earlier years.

For me I would have to say around 1988 or 1989 when I seen a re-run of Trumbo's World when I was a kid. I always remembered "that episode with all the ants" years later when you couldn't just go out and buy the DVD's. That episode as well The Widowmaker were what turned me into a Mac fan.

I got interested in Stargate SG-1 first... and addicted to RDA from the first frame when we see him as O'Neill, in 'Children of the Gods'.

After devouring the entire series (I got into it around season 5) and while waiting for the next season of SG to be released, I began to hunt down RDA's other work. I bought the first season of MacGyver cold. I had never watched the show before, had only seen half an episode back in the 80's (which turned out to be 'Faith, Hope, and Charity') At the time, I had other things on my mind and rarely watched TV.

It was Love at First Look! Whether he's toting a gun and conquering worlds or wielding a SAK and saving 'em... I'm hooked on RDA.

Oh, and "when" MacGyver become my fandom, that would be Spring of 2005. I've been a MacJunkie ever since.

I became fan of MacGyver since the 2nd episode, first season. So from the begining.

I remember i watched a trailer about the tv show was going to start after "V", all the saturdays of this summer about at 19:00. "V" was really a success, we all watched. When finished "V" I didnīt have interest in MacGyver when i watched the promotional TV show. So I didnīt watched the 1st episode. But I wached the 2nd and I really thought that it was even better than "V" so i watched the rest of episodes of the first season. All my friends watched too, even sometimes we watched together.

I still remember watching MacGyver in the balcony of the apartment with a bottle of juice in his hand, or walking in the ocean front walk.

After 1st season I was happy because they shoot other more season and son on season after season. I watched MacGyver 8 years until disapeared from TV.

When I bought the DVDs finally i could watch the first episode. I never could watch even when they repeated the 1st season.

My cousin give me a SAK from Switzerland (Wergen).

I became a fan of MacGyver because I was a fan of the original Stargate movie.

When SG-1 started, I recognized the fact that the lead once was MacGyver. It was a show I was aware of from the eighties and although I don't actually remember having ever watched it, I do remember I sought out high top sneakers and used to tuck the front of my jeans behind the tongue.

So I knew I liked RDA and loved the premise of Stargate and watched and got hooked and then acquired all the MacGyver episodes. Along with just about everything else he ever did.

As a kid I only had about thirty episodes on vhs when in it first aired in Belgium, mainly season six and seven episode. Episodes like The Gun, Twenty Questions, Lesson in Evil, Stricktly Business and Good Knight MacGyver. Than when the last decent rerun ran now almost nine years ago, I took my chance to record every single second of the show. Didn't happen of course. Also reading the plotlines for all those other seasons that I didn't have seen before made me hungry. But from 6 tapes I want to 29 tapes. Paid them all myself. Than I really had a MacGyver-mania for at least three years. Watching it every day, within two months, I was able to see the whole show and than restarting again from the Pilot episode throughout The Stringer and both movies. Last time I used those video's is now about three years ago. Of course switching schools has also influenced me watching it. It went less and less. At some point waiting for a dvd-set to come out, I haven't watched an episode in like two years. It never been that long before.

Because of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, I knew who RDA was (I know I saw him on Genreal Hospital, since my sister watched, but I don't rememebr him, because I wasn't a fan of the show), but didn't start watching MacGyer until about the 4th or 5th season - whichever was the year they started syndication.

So I got to see 6 new shows a week for quite a while LOL.

My interest in RDA took a back seat to the X-files for a few years, but it was rekindled about 3 years ago (though I did watch Stargate every week from about the 3rd season when I got access to Showtime).

As much as I like Jack, i stiill prefer Mac - he's such a nice guy, and he has the best big grin.

I was introduced to the show in 1989, when I was around nine or ten years old, so I'm guessing that was around the third season. A friend of mine and I watched it at her house before going to dance class. I vividly remember the Murdoc episodes and Passages when they actually aired on TV, and later I watched them all on the USA network. I am forever in my friend's debt for introducing me to such a wonderful show--and a delicious man!

1989 was the end of the fourth season and the beginning of the fifth. I started in the fall at the start of the 5th. I was 13 at the time. 20 years later I am still a huge fan of Mac (not like I can imagine not being one)!!!!

I do not really remember any one particular episode but for some unknow reasons I remember the opening credits very clearly. Just a few scenes in the opening credit is enough to get me hooked!

I actually do remember, exactly -- even after all these years (bearing in mind that it happened during the original airing of the first season). Although I started watching with the pilot, the moment of true initial fandom was a combination of two different moments.

One was the "lateral-cranial impact enhancer" line in "Last Stand"; it had me howling. My father loved that moment, and that line, as well; I remember that, too. And he was difficult to impress.

But the moment when I really knew I'd fallen for the show was towards the end of "Nightmares". I didn't watch a lot of TV -- I never have -- and I've never had much use for macho types. Mac's character hit such a fine balance between strong and human, and the final scenes of that episode just struck a spark for me. I particularly remember the half-crumpled note in Mac's voice when he was sitting on the stairs, claiming that he'd had it and was giving in -- and then took his foot off the rope and sprung his trap. Then the last fight scene, and the final trick with magnetising the pipe.

Looking back, what had really caught me was how the power and intensity of the acting completely overrode any thoughts of the cheesiness of the plot. I guess I'd found a hero, although I didn't realise it at the time.

Since that very first episode aired. As a 12 year old infatuated with horses, I was enthralled by the voiceover in the opening gambit. So I guess to begin with it wasn't even about MacGyver...it was about that golden palomino...

Not sure when I became a fan, but I clearly remember watching Bushmaster and was hooked at that time which was early in 1987. I was 9 years old and was just captivated by the character.

I wrote a letter to his fan mail in 1989 (lord knows what I said ) and received a little postcard picture in return. I carried that thing everywhere and still have it (it's a little worse for wear).

Over the years, I've continued following his career, but for me, he will always be MacGyver.
