This episode really stands out to me for a couple of reasons. First of all, it not only makes a point about racism being bad, but it drives it home. Hard.
Second is that (I know this has been mentioned already, but oh well) it's the only episode where we see such strong emotions out of the normally cool and collected Mac. It's also the only one (the beginning scene in the pilot in which he fires the semi-automatic at the bad guys doesn't count) where we see mac lose his temper and actually try to hurt (or kill) someone when not in self defense. It shows that he isn't a model of perfection, and really makes his character seem much more real, which is one of the things I love about this show.
If you're only going to watch a few episodes, watch this one.

Yep. One of the hardest hitting episodes of the whole series.

I feel sorry for MacG.gif - his right hand must have got really sore, all the times he managed to floor a bad guy with just one punch.

It's just as well for RDA that he didn't have to punch people for real. Otherwise, he'd probably have ended up with his right hand out of action most of the time. Of course, Mac would probably learn to do everything with his left hand, and possibly his feet.

I'm not going to repeat all the great observations everyone else already made. I just watched this on MeTV and in the last scene where Larson is yelling about Black people, they 'silenced' him saying the "n" word...I rewatched it on DVD to make sure and on the DVD he says the "n" word.

I liked seeing the "social worker" side of Mac as some of you put it. Of course, that has to do with my line of work. I taught at-risk kids (like those at Challengers) and I've taught in a correctional facility and now work with mostly minorities to get them training and jobs. From what I see every day, this world needs a whole lot more MacGyvers out there to step up and do what they can to make a difference.

This is a really heavy episode, that is still pretty relevant, sadly.

While I think the NOOOOO at the end is a tad over dramatic, RDA's acting right before and after is spot on. Also it amuses me that Mac at his most out of control would just hit you with a gun, he still wouldn't shoot it. smile.gif

My second all time favorite episode of MacGyver. Definitely an emotional and powerful episode.

I don't think it's natural for RDA to be that angry about anything. I've kinda noticed that when he has to yell at another actor for a scene, he doesn't come off as that angry. Like, he'll look away from the actor as if he's ashamed of it. But, that's just me reading his body language. It seemed to get more natural in later seasons, but I also noticed that MacGyver's character got a lot more cynical... which was probably RDA's projecting his own personality.

This episode is one of the reasons I like Season 4. It deals with a lot more heavier, time appropriate issues than in earlier seasons. MacGyver comes off a bit more edgier as well with that black leather jacket I love so much. lol

Also, I had no idea what the Colombian Necktie was either until this episode and looked it up. Once I did, I was like... damn, poor Mac had to witness his friend like that? I bet that caused some trauma....

WoW is one of the episodes that I think will have left its mark on us the most, but I have been following Mac's investigation.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ which come back in other for Booker, Billy and Mac and for Dana Elcar.
