I thought "The Black Corsage" was a great episode! A lot of cool things going on here- first off, we see the first appearance of MacGyver's yellow and black truck, possibly handed down to him by Harry? (I know MacGyver talks a bit about where he got the truck with the guy at the car wash at the start of the episode, but I can't remember exactly what he says.) Well, I know Harry bequeaths him the Nomad anyway, but's that not until later. And you also have what was meant to be the return of Jesse Colton, but since Richard Lawson couldn't make it- the producers decided to bring in his brother Frank instead. And we also see the first appearance of Frog the dog, which the Coltons wind up adopting. And MacGyver had some cool MacGyverisms too- cutting the rope with the fish teeth was pretty cool and funny too. (in a good way) And then MacGyver rigging up the merry-go-round at the end was pretty neat too. It was a pretty good, fun episode overall.

Two words for those girls out there (and Patty and Selma, too ): TANK TOP! Whoa!
Now on to business...this episode is okay, but I don't count it among my favorites. I do like the opening with the truck at the car wash. I prefer Mac's jeep, but that is a beautiful old truck. The guy playing Frank Colton is Cleavon Little. If anybody's ever seen Blazing Saddles, he plays the sheriff in that hilarious movie.
Frog is one of those ugly dogs you hate to love, isn't he? He's a sweetheart, though.
I thought the plot was a little weak. I guess after watching Legend of the Holy Rose and all its excitement, this one came across as a little...dull for me. It's not bad, though.
Favorite lines:
"Fish? I hate fish!" --Frank Colton
Waitress: "Help you, handsome?" MacGyver: "I'm looking for a girl." Waitress: "Must be my lucky day!"

I voted good, on this episode and that's what it is. It's good, nothing more, nothing less. Frank was great (Cleavon Little may he rest in peace) I'm also more in favor of the jeep but this one seemed more practical for him. Can't imagine more then two people in his cars. Frog, what kind of dog is he? I think he's bulldog, if he was a pitbull, they sure had a dangerous kind of dog on the set. If those bite, they won't let go. Then you have to kill him to make him release. The waitress... she looked a bit too pudgy, couldn't they find a girl like Sofia to play the waitress. Also what I liked is when Mac and the baddie bumped in on each other. 'Sorry!' 'No problem!' And also when Frank won't say anything about the map. Mac's already gone and when he hears map, he drives back. 'What map?' Pete at the end is hilarious the way he stands there with the dog. 'Well, Mac, the pooch.' 'I don't want him.' 'He drools.' 'He drools a lot.' Loved the handshake as well. Good episode.

It wasn’t the best episode I’ve seen so it only gets an ok from me but there were some bits I thought were great.
I’ve got to agree with MacsChick on the tank top – Yummy! I was tempted to vote excellent just because of the tank top but we didn’t see enough of it to justify it really. I love the bit when “Uncle Mac” tries to get adorable Frog the dog to bring him the hose. It made me giggle. How he expected to short out the fuse box when his arms were bound down I don’t know but it was so funny they way he was trying to coerce the dog while trying not to sound frantic about getting his head chopped up. “He’s not gonna do it!” Good old Frog. Not much in the way of Macgyverisms but nice use of the shooting range as a trap. Fun and I enjoyed watching it but I felt it was missing something – And I don’t just mean more screen time for the tank top!

I voted good. The plot was a little weak, but it cracked me up. I think this was probably one of the funniest eps of the season. In some ways, it almost reminded me of some of the "Mac and Jack" eppys... some silly slapstick and everything that can go wrong, does.
I loved the "fish teeth" scene. Only Mac would think of something like that! I also had to laugh at the scene where Mac and Frank run into each other, and Frank thinks Mac is the guy he's chasing!
And yes, Frog is definitely a bulldog. Ugly, yes, but so ugly he's cute.
My son pointed out an interesting point while we watched this last night.
Colton gets shot in the fish factory, but afterwards appears fine and using both arms with no effects until the last scene where we see him with his arm in a sling.

I'd tell your son he's very smart and observant.
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
Does anyone else find the escape scene from the fish conveyor belt stupid?
How would the dog even know what a knife or hose was unless it had been taught to fetch that particular item? and more importantly, how did they think the dog weas going to give them those items when he's on the floor and they are 3 feet above the dog on a conveyor belt?
AND why would a dog just randomly push against a lever?? It didn't look natural and it didn't make sense. It's not like the lever was sticking out and the dog rubbed against it by accident. He acted on command and it was obvious as hell.
That whole scene is very weak writing and actually ruined (I think) what was otherwise a pretty good episode. I can't work out if it was meant to be comedic (in the middle of a good drama episode?) or just really bad writing. Either way the writer needed to be hit over the head with something hard and heavy.

can still watch macgyver today and have it seem to be current and not really seem dated as macs wardrobe tended to be LLBean and pete almost always wore suits. You forget that the show is 25 years old until macgyver busts out with one of those ultra modern cell phones that are the size of your head and you go "ahh yeah way old school."

The concept now that I think about it more is rather absurd; this priceless artifact is hidden in plain sight in a *spoiler alert* carousel *spoiler alert* in California is a little ridiculous. I realize they had a great location, but it's still a little flimsy.
I like the double act of Frank and Mac, and I really like Frog. Yes, he is acting on command and no, your average dog wouldn't behave like that but for me it's still funny every time he goes scooting off with the lead trailing and everyone chasing along behind. My disbelief suspenders also stretch just enough to accommodate Frog pushing the lever in the nick of time. The look on Mac's face is priceless
The truck is beautiful but, like a couple of others here, I prefer the jeep. It just fits the character better in a way I haven't quite put my finger on.

I liked the classic truck that Mac drives in this one, like most fans I prefers he Jeep. Frank was a good character who got along with Mac. Not one of the best episodes in the series but good overall.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Just the scenes with Mac, Frank, and/or Frog were enough to keep me entertained. The heck with the main plot! Have to have some levity and disbelief here and there. Not to mention (as some already have) Mac in a tank top. I really don't go for muscles on guys, but since we hardly ever see Mac's it was a treat...lol!

I noticed the premise is a lot like Soft Touch, but this one feels a lot more generic for some reason. It's missing a... soft touch
But I do like it! It feels enjoyable even though it seems like a generic chase through Vancouver, which isn't my favorite setting. It's a good example of an episode that is well written, but lacks an extra something.
