I may have gotten up on the wrong side of bed this morning, so I'm checking this with everyone else.

This item has been added to the Sea Sheppard auction currently in progress. The details of the item say it was on a table where RDA was signing at a fan event last year and lots of people found it amusing.

So here's the question. How is refusing to sign the 2 items you're synonymous with amusing? If I'd spent that much money to get to have something signed to then be told at the table that they can't sign it I would not be a happy camper.

In this day & age I can understand the knife bit (sort of).... but the duct tape refusal thing throws me for a loop.

edit: I see that 'rolls' is underlined meaning that he probably would sign flat strips of tape. Maybe one of his old injuries was acting up and causing some wrist/elbow pain and thus the restriction to flat objects only ???

I wonder why he wouldn't sign these items. Glad he was willing to sign my roll of duct tape when I met him in 1996.

The good news is he'll still sign paper clips.

No, I just think they were pulling rank and being overly persnickety at that particular signing. I've been to other celebrity signings where anything goes and those where only venue issued photos are permitted in the autograph queue. Book signings are usually ( & understandably) restricted to the book de jour being peddled.

I think it's just a weird sense of humor. Maybe that sign was a just in case matter.

There could be any number of reasons why the rule. I don't find it amusing, but it also doesn't bother me. Mostly because I wouldn't have him sign either, well... for me anyway.

It seems for whatever the reason, RDA was trying to make light of it for his fans. He's a nice enough guy, but I'm sure after a while... the jokes get old. lol
