Every week I will be posting a new topic titled "Episode Discussion". In this we will discuss an episode, what we liked about it, what we didn't like, etc.

I love the scene where Maria draws him into the 'hunt' by showing him the headpiece. We see Mac's love for puzzles and treasure hunts when he says "Oh, I love this stuff!"
This isn't my most favourite episode... I don't put it in just to watch it, but when I do watch it, I always enjoy it.
Mac riding horses!
Everyone, sometimes, needs a camel.
Old troubleshooters never die... They just wait til the last moment and then rescue themselves!
It's kinda slow on the pace and seems to focus more on the relationship between the characters rather than the treasure hunt. It's more drama than adventure in my opinion
But it's still a good watch and scores a Good rating.

A very wet episode. Too much rain.
And Maria puts me off with her one track minded obsession about the murderer of her father. In fact, I'm amazed that Mac isn't more critical of her view on things.

Me too. He was pretty good! Did he learn to ride a horse just for the series or he already knew it? I have never read about his passion for horses. Just car racing, hiking..
The best way to beat the problem, is to make it work for you

I remember reading an interview with someone involved in the production of MacGyver, who mentioned RDA being excellent on horseback, but sorry, I don't recall which interview. Maybe someone else knows. It's quite possible RDA learned to ride a horse for the 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'show. Anyway, I agree with you, the horseback riding is never mentioned as being one of his skills/passions. Maybe he himself didn't consider it as something special.
Yep, RDA does ride well. Maria, though, does not - she bounces around a lot up there and we never see her get on or off the horse, she's either already on board or already on the ground!
I liked the way Mac's face lights up at the chance to solve the mystery, but the episode as a whole felt a bit tired. Even the horses look cheesed off. Maybe because everyone was soaked to the skin the whole time!
The weather really is bad in this one, isn't it? I lived in Wales for 5 years and whichever bit of Canada they filmed this in, it's full-on Welsh-wet!
Is it all Vancouver or did they travel around much? I know that reducing the travel time was the reason for moving from L.A., but they do seem to find some really varied locations...

This one was a adventure episode which are the best. Mac on a treasure hunt in Peru. When I first seen this one when it aired you were waiting for the to discover the hidden gold but when there was no gold but seed you were somewhat disappointed. The real treasure of the Incas was hiding the seed to grow there crops after the Spanish left.

I voted Excellent. I'll take episodes like this over, what I call, the social issue of the week episodes.
I believe the character Enrique (played by Richard Chavez) was wearing either the same cargo pants or the same style cargo pants that MacGyver wore early on in the series. I base this on the adjustable ankle tabs and that the inside edge of the thigh pockets were centered in the front of Enrique's thigh, rather then positioned on the side of his leg, like most cargo pants are.

This was the one episode I missed when it originally aired and I had finally seen it years later for the first time when the dvds came out. I loved it!!! Worth the long wait.
