Season 5: 1989-1990. Season 6: 1990-1991. It's only about a year, year and half. New haircut, new season, I think RDA looked pretty well in season 6. Fresh-faced, clean shaven as always. I do notice that in episodes like The Gun, The Wasteland and Trail of Tears he shows perseverance. He doesn't know how to back down and he's not easily threatened. In The Gun, he shows that in the way he asks Laura if he has to believe that her and the gun being at a junkyard at the same time was just a coincidence? It's the way he says that. Also in The Wasteland, he shows that perseverance after being jumped at by four construction workers that he was going to meet Rogolf and than later tell Andrew Bartlett that he could save the threats and that he isn't going away. Trail of Tears same thing: he was shot at, punched and caught afterwards and still he goes in. I think most people would say: the hell with it. MacGyver keeps going, that's what I like so much about him. He doesn't give up. And that troubled look is I think a more concentrated look. Or maybe it's because of the weather, or the area.
How would you feel if you drive through the wasteland, completely on your own, no music on except maybe the voice of an audio tape that tells you what happened there, the sky is grey, there are no animals and everything is dead, deserted and desolate and there you are driving in a van with no connection to the outside world. Imagine if that episode opened at night. At night or during the day, the ominous opening shot of that van bumping up and down the path still gives me goosebumps. That's why this is amongst my favorite episodes.

Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you.
It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
