LOL! I have a friend who works in a furniture rental store, where he occasionally watches the morning games shows (with one eye when the boss is around). This morning he called me, laughing, because one of the questions on ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ made him think of me… the local MacGyver-nut.

The question was a ‘finish this popular saying’:
“If you want something done right…______”
and pick one of four choices to complete this sentence.

The options were: (I’m guessing… he didn’t tell me exactly what the other options were)
A. use a calculator
B. do it yourself
C. hire an expert
and D….

The fourth option was, of course “Ask MacGyver”

I’m glad that I wasn’t the contestant who was asked this question. I might have been tempted to answer ‘D’ out of loyalty to Mac!

It’s only money, after all! wink.gif

Gotta love random MacGyver mentions. A friend of mine was trying on my watch a few days ago, and it is relatively new so it is hard to open and close, so she sat there for around 2 minutes just trying to get it open. Then she said either "If I were MacGyver I could open it." or "If only MacGyver were here to open it." It was pretty funny, fortunately she got the watch open biggrin.gif

I love listening for them too. I was watching a comedy scetch the other day some thing about making something. And one of the comics replied 'Yeh...or better still seeing MacGyver with a piece of chewing gum and a straw to save the day'

I did laugh tongue.gif

If anybody watches "The Food Network" - on Cable... the guy who does the show "Good Eats" loves MacGyver and is always mentioning him. He (Mac) is considered to be the original "Multi-tasker" by Alton Brown (the guy on the show) - He's always using and looking for new multi-tasking utensils to do the prep work and cooking for whatever food dish he is highlighting and Mac is talked about frequently..

That which has been established will endure even with time and at a distance.

I can't tell you anything about what happens after the cameras go off, mostly because I'm usually unconscious by then.

Yeah, actually I watch that show quite freguently. I've seen a few of the references. I've also seen other referneces too, I can't remember what it was though unfortunately. I've done multiple double takes though. I'll just be watching tv, or half watching it while I do something else, and then suddenly someone mentions MacGyver for whatever reason. I normally smile like a maniac for a little while after that... biggrin.gif

I thought it would be Emeril LaGasse that would like RDA. I watch Emeril, but not close enough to find out if he does or not. LOL! roller.gif

I love watching and listening for random MacGyver references, too. I still think my all-time fave was on CSI:NY awhile back, when CSI Danny calls one of his female colleagues "Miss MacGyver."

My faves are the recent Saturday Night Live sketches from January I think. The dude that's supposed to be MacG is rocking such a sweet mullet! Wish they would show them again soon on re-runs.
