Does anyone ever notice how Mac's personality changes as the season's progress? Well I have. In season 1 he's really carefree and outgoing. In season 2 he's happy alot and smiles all the time. Then in season 3 he starts to quiet down and get more laid back. In season 4 he's extremely laid back and doesen't smile as much. Then he starts to get a little "happier" as the later seasons aproach. So if anyone noticed this change please tell me!

Well I said this before as well. There's a big development in the series. In the first season he's actually a bit cocky, arrogant towards his bad guys. He has more attitude in the first season.
In the first two seasons it's like they're really searching on what the show should be and they found what they were looking for in the third season: the houseboat, the returning subjects of politics, adventure, endangered species, Phoenix programs, kids in troubles.
From season 3 to 5, it's like MacGyver is maturing and from season 5 till 7, it's like he's fully matured.
MacGyver always smiles, at every beginning of an episode and at the end of every episode.
I never saw much changing except that he well, he gets just more experienced and also when he gets older, he might think longer over his action.
But that he quiets down and laid back... that can also be because the years are weighing on him and/or maybe the weather circumstances in British Columbia. Many of the episodes that were filmed there were in cloudy days. A lot of the weather circumstances in those episodes reminds me of the weather here in Belgium. While seasons 1, 2 and 7 were filmed in Los Angeles with always bright sunlight and hot temperatures, that can also influence your moods. But RDA/MacGyver in a bad mood, that's something you'll rarely see.

To me the series always was a build up to the Passages episode and with the sixth season it was like time to slowly take down the series. The sixth season is still a solid season with great episodes like Humanity, The Wall and Lesson in Evil, to name a few. And those episodes were actually missing a bit in the seventh season. But it was clearly time to stop after the seventh season.

Moments where MacGyver doesn't smile are mostly the episodes he gets injured in, The Widowmaker, Mask of the Wolf (he's clearly annoyed by Jack the whole time) The Challenge, Easy Target and MacGyver - Trail to Doomsday.

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.
Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you.
It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
