ok.. you're MacGyver.. you have 4 weeks leave.. where do you go and what do you do?

Atlantis, Paradise Island. Do some island hopping, diving, laying around on the beach, parasailing, etc.

I'm sure the Bahamians would find some trouble for me to get into.

Go skiing in the mountains, but than snowboarding for a week. Travelling to Hawaii for another week doing miles and miles nothing or maybe help Magnum solve a case. Than going to Miami for another week. Maybe for my last week going to Easter Island. Easter Island seems like a place Mac would go to.

If I were Mac and had 4 weeks off... I'd go to a desert island where noone could find me, where my cell definitely has no network. I wouldn't tell Jack nor Pete were I was going.

You need to get out more!

Buy a bunch of western videos, drive to Minnesota (without leaving a forwarding address), hike through some unpopulated wilderness to a little-known lake (covering my trail carefully so that I won't be followed), set up a generator and a VCR/TV, go fishing all day and watch Tom Mix and Roy Rogers' movies all night.

If I was MacGyver I’d get myself a boat so I can do a little sailing and maybe a bit of fishing and diving. And, if I felt like it I could anchor just off a small friendly fishing village and enjoy the local fresh fish.
While I was relaxing I’d think back over all the places I hadn’t got a chance to fully appreciate because I was either running for my life of sneaking about the last time I visited. I’d then go and explore what I missed. Only if it was safe though!

Grab Heidi (or in a pinch - Samantha Carter), get back in the hot air balloon, fly to Minnesota, do some serious fishing... in a pond with - or without fish...

Depending on how nasty the last assignment was, unplug the phone and hide out of site at home watching western movies.

How would MacGyver spend a vacation? I tend to agree with the getting away from civilization, hiding out in a wooded cabin somewhere, going fishing and maybe watching some Westerns...

Or maybe calling up all his old girlfriends that he never committed to...

Pack up the fishing gear, saddle up a good horse and take a long ride into mountain back country. Spend two weeks there camping, hiking, fishing, reflecting on life.

The next two weeks, I would spend at the beach relaxing, painting, playing music, watching Western movies.

Sorry... but I consider Mac and Jack O'Neill to be the same person - albiet at different stages in their life... so, sometimes the events of one life cross over into the other. If you notice, I said Mac would get into the hot air balloon - not the Al-kesh or X-302, or Death Glider. Actually... I take back Heidi. Change that to Nikki. Starkoss said that Mac would ... "grow to love her". I think he did in his own way. Interesting that both Mac and Jack enjoy fishing...

I like that idea! I take it the vacation takes place in present time? After the cold war ended? I'd love to show MacGyver all the nice places in Eastern Germany! We have a very famous climbing area (Saxon Switzerland) near where I live, for example. It sometimes looks like the Grand Canyon.

That's in case he likes climbing also just for enjoyment and not only for assignments. Maybe I should put that question in the climbing discussion.

Thing is: no matter where Mac goes, he'll always end up running and saving people or threatened animals. Problems seem to have the tendency to find him, no matter where he's hiding.. .

MacGyver would take a boat out to the middle of the Bermuda triangle just to see if he could scientifically prove the mystery of why so many planes, boats, etc., have disappeared there over the years. He would call it a "Challenge-cation" or a "Vay-challenge". While there, Mac would fish, snorkel, snooze, read books, suntan, etc., in between periods of research. This would be the perfect vay-cay for MacGyver because he would get antsy if he was ordered to just relax and have fun for four weeks. You know he's always gotta be solving some mystery or other!

Yeah but they where the fashion at the time of filming. Everyone wore those ray ban style glasses.

Don't you think its odd that they tried to keep MacGyver up with fashion trends, even though the character wasn't at all interested in fashion/clothing etc?

Hmm... if I were Mac and had four *glorious* weeks off, I'd leave my cell phone at home and go to Europe, maybe to Greece for all the great history and archaeological stuff. (Mac always struck me as something of a history buff.) Oh, and on the side, I'd get in some mountain biking, climbing... something like that.

4 weeks, that's a long time

I think I would go to Sweden, mid-Sweden, and take a good long hike to Lapland. There are mountains on the way, people to meet, forrests to cross, lakes to fish in... Yeah, I think I could find all I would consider *fun*, being MacGyver

I just wont get 4 weeks on my own for the next 18 years or so, and then I'm afraid I'd be too old for that
