great! We crashed with MacGyver!"

MacGyver would be the best person to crash with.

Why would you consider having someone around who can actually help, as a negative situation requiring muttering under your breath.

I guess they where going for the cheap laugh.

There is another quote involving MacGyver from the movie My Fellow Americans that makes no sense when you think of MacGyver, either, but it was still funny. The main characters are in a bind, and one of them asks, "Now what?" James Garner's character says something like, "Who am I, MacGyver? I'm making this up as I go." It was cute, but obviously inaccurate, too. We know that MacGyver often makes things up as he goes, too.
