The houseboat as well because it's the only house where he lived the longest.
What I like about MacGyver; he can do anything, has a bright and sober look on life, cares about his fellow human beings, nature and the environment and his sense of adventure.
And the fact that he drives an awesomely cool jeep.

What I love most about MacGyver is that he is a tough and resourseful man who isn't self-conscious about hugging his friends. Also, he is cavalier without being sexist, gentle without being a push-over
... and he loves animals.

Why I Like MacGyver
I really liked the fact that he was against guns, smoking, drugs, and drinking- and he generally didn't swear. All in all, MacGyver is a great show that provides plenty of action and entertainment, actual useful knowledge, and a positive role model who portrays good morals. He also was one of the most caring heroes on TV who took time to help others just because they needed help. He really had genuine compassion and kindness towards others. He shook his hand after punching someone. It really showed a human side to him, that it's okay to say "ow" when you hurt. He was definitely a cool hero and those are all the reasons why I still love watching MacGyver today.
(And no, I didn't copy that from this site-http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Club/6285/ That was my response on the now-gone but still-missed Yesterdayland site on its MacGyver page from some years ago- and apparently the webmaster of this other site liked it pretty well. That's cool. )
...why does this feel like a school essay?
(Which, by the way, I actually did write about my love for MacGyver in the third grade! I think I may still have it somewhere!)
I love the fact he's adventurous, outgoing, always helping others, loyal to friends and yes, he loves animals. I recognize a lot of him in myself. But of course I'm not as cute as he.
What draws me in about the show is the "outdoors" theme. The mythology (Mask of the Wolf, Eye of Osiris, Trail of Tears, Treasure of Manco even Passages) He tries to keep an open mind but remains human without being too much of a teacher.
Like I said, he's adventurous and he knows how to tackle challenges. And yeah, maybe I'm now qualified as "insane" (but I guess I already was) but I really like RDA. Sorry, can't help it.

When I was watching the show originally... I liked the adventures he had... the fact that here's this guy who can create anything from nothing - using science - escape from any situation, and - he was the type of person I would have liked to have known - he was so different from anyone around me at the time. 20 years later - watching the re-runs... I realized this show is funny. It was something I hadn't noticed before. Mac/RDA is a funny guy and he has such a tremendous amout of energy, I get tired just watching some of the episodes. I love the fact that he never gives up. His loyalty, curiosity, humanity just endeared the show to me.
I have to admit - it comes down to an admiration of RDA as an actor. He put so much of himself into Mac's character - he was Mac. And then after 7 years, it was over, and he went on to create a whole new character (O'Neill) with a different personality... or not, because if you look real hard, there were aspects of O'Neill there to see in Mac's character - but at the time, who knew? And bits and pieces of Mac are evident in Jack's character. I think RDA is an exceptional actor. He was able to get the best of both worlds.

Well, besides how cute he is...
Seriously, on a deeper level of appreciation, what I love most about him is how calm he is even in the most threatening, dangerous, and impossible situations. He has this cool confidence that I only wish I could have. Every time I start to panic about something or feel really inhibited, I begin to think how he would handle it and it helps me to relax and be more accepting.

Amen to that! A good philosophy for life... where everyday, we have to deal with so much STUFF. Mac had the right idea. Panic doesn't help the situation - cool heads will prevail.

That's something I like too. Not necessarily with the houseboat but in all episodes, that he comes home like two or three times in an episode like The Prodigal, Jerico Games, The Negotiator.

The houseboat was like a metaphor of Mac. A cozy home to come back to, and yet because it's a house-boat... it's not exactly permanent... He's always dashing off to some new adventure - never staying in the same place for very long (very much like RDA at the time). When Zoe towed it out to sea at the beginning of Legend of the Holy Rose, I realized, wow... it could just drift away - it's not really tied down to anything - or anyone... kinda like Mac.

If there was cockpit in it you've got a moving house. You can just move without a moving truck and everything can stay on their places.

I love MacGyver’s enduring quality and themes. You can watch it over and over and it never gets old. It can/does/will entertain generations.

I think that is why it started out as a show that the kids were watching, such as myself and my brothers. Then in Season 4 , my mother and father started to watch. It became more family oriented. And stayed that way until the end. . . Season 7. That is even the reason that I love MacGyver. And it became a family show, because he was AGAINST violence, and all that stuff that we see nowadays. I think we need a MacGyver -like show to come on. Altho ' I don't see that happening in the nearest future, it is a pity. He is something that can not be matched. He is / was something special. He is someone special . Okay, before I get carried away , I best stop at that. Oh, and YAH , I thought his houseboat was the best . I wish I lived in there. Sincerely, Kate Mackay

I love MacGyver for being positive. The thought never to give up, because that will make "the others" win. I don't think it was ever expressed on the show in words, but his whole lifestyle expressed that thought. This thought kept me alive for a decade. MacGyver kept me alive - amazing I'm still sane
Other things I like about MacGyver - the houseboat, I want one just like his And, his outdoor adventures, when he digs into nature, for whatever reason. Love that, would like to do the same. Just leave the world behind, wandering, somewhere, in the nature AND Mac is cute

I think what I love most about this show is that it emphasizes, over and over again, that you can make a positive difference in the world no matter who you are and no matter where you happen to find yourself.
Quite a few eppys started off as a 'routine' day or assignment, and then morphed into something much more, with deeper implications.

That's also what I try to do in my school matters. Maybe because of keeping trying, is the reason why I don't know how it'll end this year.
That's a good aspect of MacGyver of remaining positive. Name one moment where in MacGyver got pessimistic. You can maybe find only one or two moments. Trail to Doomsday might be a good example. However he never showed it, it was just that the investigation was stuck when the killers and the people who gave the assignment got killed. But further MacGyver was always the positive, towards his fellow human beings.
