actually it was Black Rhino, but I dont know what is that music
Oh, Man ! That is it !! I am so ecstatically happy that you did that. Becuz, I asked that question once before in another group. But no one new the answer. And then I had to do my own research. Thus resulting in my absolute adoration of LadySmith Black Mambazo. Becuz I started to look around then when I heard LadySmith, I , quite recently in fact, came to the ultimate conclusion that it is LadySmith Black Mambazo. Thanx be to you, now I WILL go out and buy the album. But I was also drawing that conclusion becuz the character of LadySmith ( played by Kai Wulff ) it is like they were paying an homage to LadySmith Black Mambazo by naming the character Lady Smith. Only Kai Wulff is the bad guy ( sorry for the spoiler , folks ) Of course, I could be wrong. But that is what I think when I watch that episode. And yes, I too think this song is so very cool. I just luv that. Thanx for doing your research. I appreciate it, more than you know. I know how much LadySmith Black Mambazo is loved in Africa. And becuz of this episode and that song, I fell in love with that kind of music. As they said, somewhere, " a little culture never hurt nobody " . Thanx, again. Sincerely, Kate Mackay

If I'd seen this earlier, I could have answered it. Yeah, the music on the "Black Rhino" episode of MacGyver is by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a great South African music group, which incidentally, is a Christian band. (At least Joseph Shabalala- the founder, is.) Many people probably also remember them from their appearances on Sesame Street, one of which is in a celebrity version of Ernie's hit 1988 song, "Put Down the Duckie". They also sang the "African Alphabet" song with Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street in 1987. That's where I first realized who this band was and first actually saw the band itself. It was neat to discover later on that their music was also featured in this episode of MacGyver. Here's the Amazon link to buy a "Best Of" CD (which features the "Black Rhino" song- "Izithembiso Zenkosi")
And lets not forget the whole reason they have a recording contract and are known pretty much world wide is because. of their work with Paul Simon on his Graceland album

I did some research on Ladysmith Black Mambazo ( Just becuz I luv there music so much. And this topic just got me reeling so much. ) I found out that they were in the "Graceland " album with Paul Simon.
Oooh EEeee ! Yah ! I just luv these guys.
But I wanted to ask ( since we are on the topic of music of MacGyver. Or should I have posted a new post of stuff, I dunno ) I was watching the " MacGyver: Trail to doomsday " movie and wanted to know if anyone knows about the scene that MacGyver comes into the room with the two dead guys and takes the map. The music that is playing in the back-ground. It is a piece of classical music ( I dunno if anyone , here , is in to that kind of music . I mean , besides me. ) Would anyone know who is the composer of that piece of music . And what is the name of the composition. I just think it is so great . I , might, one day , wanna buy that music. ( As well as the music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo , I mean. These guys are great ! I am going to look for the albums that have that piece by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and the composer that did the song on the MacGyver movie. )

Gee... and all you really had to do was read Rocky's post above.

In fact, I suppose what happened was I got the chance to see the post. But I was at school at the time. And when I get to see the post, it was too late. I saw the post and wanted to reply, but didn't have the chance to be near a computer in time. So Rocky beat me to the punch. But I knew the answer, already. - Kate Mackay
