Pete was promoted to the Phoenix Foundation between the first and second season. That's how I always interpreted it. MacGyver first worked for the Pentagon in the first half of the first season, than the Feds/DXS in the second half. The Phoenix Foundation is firstly mentioned in The Human Factor and firstly shown in Twice Stung. Officially MacGyver starts working for Phoenix in the second season.

I think the only time I've EVER seen a torch burn out in a movie was in 'Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark', when Marion's torch went out for a dramatic touch.

Take Earl Dent for instance how did he got in MacGyver's place in Split Decision. It's like housekeys don't exist, or rather they do but they loose their usefulness. That's even worse and a bigger nitpick. If you just can enter buildings through the doors than why does Mac have to sneak in all the time?

I figured that Bad Guy didn't lock the door behind him when he picked the lock... ... but you're right about people walking into Mac's place all the time.

Just think how much money Mac saved by not having to repair busted doors and windows!

If Mac's place (houseboat) is so easy to get into, then why did Murdoc break the glass on the door to get in on Widowmaker? (Unless he's the ONLY one in the Known Universe who didn't have a key - not that Mac would give him one)

And yeah, I do believe that the thug-guy who tries to strangle Nikki in Blow Out DIDN'T shut the door behind him, so Mac can easily get in. One thing that drives me crazy about this ep. What happens to Bunky the dog? Did Nikki leave him with another neighbor in the apartment? We don't see him again (in this ep.)

He can fall into the cargo hold of a boat and only suffer a broken arm. Fall from a 3 story parking garage and not substain a broken bone.
