Anyone ever notice how MacGyver kind of goes into a kind of "zone" when he's doing a MacGyverism?

He kind of focuses of the task at hand and blocks out whats going on around him.

you notice it more when theres other people around him.

A high level of determination I'd say. I like those shots from Strictly Business when he's doing the stuff with the rifle and the wires. He so concentrated and especially the look he gave the wires when he was smearing the melted shells over it was really great. It was like: 'Hey, stop moving!'

Actually I notice it more when he's alone. With others around, he's usually explaining what he's doing and what the effects will be.

I'll have to go watch him stare down those wires now. I'm curious!

It's intense focus and concentration, because he knows the stakes are high.

In the zone is a great place to be. I've been living there for the last three months. I have just been in a hyper creative mode lately, where I have more ideas and inspiration for my artwork than I have time to complete the work. Its been spilling over into my professional life as well. I have a very technical presentation to deliver in July, to people who don't have chemistry degrees, and I have been coming up with really easy ways to demonstrate some of the more difficult concepts.

Must be all the inspiration I get from hanging around you guys.

Mac does go into a zone, though when he is trying to solve a problem. It shows in the intensity in his eyes and the total concentration he has to the task at hand.

I get in the zone when I write, and it's so strange because time really does seem to cease to exist. It's almost like I've been sucked entirely into this other world where nothing else matters except my complete focus and concentration. I agree with MacGyverGod that Mac does seem more in the zone when he's alone and creating a MacGyverism than when he's with people, because the inevitable (and probably irritating by now for Mac) question of "What are you doing?" temporarily removes him from his focus.

Definitely. My best zone times are when I am alone or late at night after everyone else has gone to sleep.

Zone time is the only time and way to do anything important!!
