Hey

I did some searching and found out RDA wrote the acoustic piece in The Negotiator, which I'm sure most of you know!

Anyone know what the name means? I love it!

We have audio and video of the orchestral version they used for the montage, but the scene where RDA plays it on his guitar has the sound of Deborah typing on her keyboard all the way through it.

That scene also cut back and forth from him to her a couple of times which makes the sound change from the deep rich natural sound of him playing to the tiny sound of Deborah's speaker.

I can put the file up if anyone wants it though.

Yeah I figured that actual scene was impossible to capture, which is why I was asking about a clip of him actually playing it somewhere... I'm not too sure that's him in the orchestra version :-P but I burned it to cd because I think it sounds great anyhow.

You know if you're in the mood and wanna throw up the scene where he plays it on the guitar, awesome, if not, I don't feel some huge desire for it personally.

Thanks for all the responses... it's soooo nice to be able to discuss these little things I wonder about, still getting used to that!

Thats probably the only time he ever played it on camera.

They obviously recorded the whole scene of him playing the tune, so they could inter-cut it to shots of Deborah. So maybe one day that scene might turn up as an out take on a DVD set.

But until then we're stuck with the episode scene and the orchestral montage.

Hi everyone:
Yeah, I think becuz Richard only keeps his music as private as his private life, there is no public consumption of his music. But I am thinking that when he is no longer with us, then there will be added bonuses of him doing stuff that we are un-able to see now. If he is willing to his fans to allow that to happen, I guess . I mean, he might not. As it would go against all that he is saying now when he is alive. I mean, it would be all in vain if he changed the policy after he is gone. But it is only in time that we will know for sure.
However, I would even like it to be the case that he would ( or somehow , it would be allowed ) that there would be a bonus of what it was like that we don't see now. If you know what I mean ? I mean, like other people have bonus features of someone after they die, then it is a treat to the fans to see that this person ( who ever it be ) that they show us a thing that this person did that we did not know when he / she was alive. Perhaps Richard has a whole slew of recordings of his music that we will find hidden in an attic or somewhere and release it to the public. That WOULD be such a treat. And in the meantime, I respect Richard and his wishes to be private.
Sincerely ,
Kate Mackay

His music is "real property" in that is exists as a tangible, physical entity. He could will any existing recordings to his daughter with the stipulation that they never be released for public consumption. If he has copyrighted them, then he can pass that copyright to his heirs.

Copyrights do expire in the US and anyone can purchase an expired copyright if they catch it in a certain amount of time. That's how Micheal Jackson was able to acquire the rights to some Beatles recordings. In the US, copyrights expire anywhere from 50 to 90 years after issue, therefore rendering this point moot.

Interesting concept though. You have to respect RDA for keeping some parts of his life exclusively his own. In this day and age of celebrities exploiting their names for commercial gain is far to commonplace. RDA's words and actions are in alignment, and you have to respect a man who lives what he speaks.

Sweet lord, what a sentence! I had to read it two or three times before I actually knew what it said! laugh.gif

Not everyone agrees on this one though, UNFORTUNATELY.
Even though he's quite a down to earth person who doesn't quite understand why he's so friggin' popular, he appreciates every fan. At least, that's what I've learned throughout the years.

However, there are also a lot of sicko's (go to RDA.com and try to spot them, it shouldn't be that hard) who camp in front of his house(s) and follow him wherever he goes. Bloody hell, if I were him I'd carry a gun with me everywhere, or at least a baseball bat.

I've "met" a lady on the internet who claims to live very nearby to his house. And she sais she walks into him occasionally when he's out shopping with his little girl.
But Kate (from RDA.com) warned me that, in fact, she lives at the other side of town and hangs out in the malls he goes to, just to walk into him.
Don't get me wrong, I've always thought she was extremely nice to me and she even invited me to come over. (grammar in this sentence isn't correct I'm afraid huh.gif )
Apparantly a few of the RDA.com people have and they know TOO much about his private life and they don't mind posting it on the board. Now THAT is sick.
Give the man his space. For cryin' out loud. As gorgeous and sweet as he is, he is human too. He deserves some privacy!
Such a shame some people don't seem to care about that.

ohno-smiley.gif I can not believe that is still going on!

That would be one of the reasons I don't frequent that board anymore. That woman is a pathological fruitcake and a stalker and as much as I like Kate, I couldn't help loose respect for her, when after she was informed of the situation she allows that woman to remain on the board and prey on others. mad.gif

You stay away from that woman Sheepy, because I don't think Kate has told you the half of it! blowup.gif

Well, that woman isn't on the board anymore, I think she was banned. But she's built up quite a number of followers over the years.

Why? You know more about it Nymphy? If so, please inform me. I've made a list about all the things this particular person has lied to me about...

Reading this reminds me of the time that I was in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with my husband, my brother in law and my nephew. We were getting ready to go into town for dinner when Mark busted into the room all excited. He's yelling something about Harrison Ford being spotted downtown and "we have to go right now to see if we can find him".

I looked at the guys and told them very firmly that "we are not going to stalk Harrison Ford."

Stalking of any kind against any person, famous or not is just so uncool.

Having been the target of a stalker, I can honestly say that it was one of the creepiest experiences of my life. Just knowing that someone could be watching me at any time was very unnerving.

I was fortunate. I finally got really p*****off one day and went all postal on the stalker. She backed down and I never had any more trouble from her. Its not something the police would condone, but man I felt better after. I took back my power and regained control of my life. My stalker was basically a coward, and when confronted with the butt kicking she so richly deserved, went slinking back under her rock.
Not everyone can deal with a stalker in this manner, but it worked for me.

I visit the RDA website very occasionally, mostly for updates on Richard's current projects. I checked out the forum once............no thanks, its way to sleazy for my taste.

Sorry Sheepy about all the lawyer-eze about real property and all. I'm an artist and have studied copyright law and have written a lot on the subject on other art forums. Real or tangible property is something that exists, like a recording or a book. Intangible property is something that doesn't exist, it is an idea that has not been translated into a work of art.

Well, I certainly have something better to do with my time than hanging around all day in a mall without even knowing whether or not he will be there. I never understood people hanging around someone's hotel the whole day just for a glimpse of him when he comes out either.

I already bumped into some (German) stars at the street in my hometown, and when it happens I just notice and walk on. Even if you stop and say loudly to your friends "Look who there is!" I would consider that as harrassment. Since they are there in private. So at least do it so that they don't hear it. Give them the feeling of being unnoticed.

Now conventions, that is a different thing. There I don't have any troubles to approach the stars. Last year after it had ended we sat in a restaurant, and after a while all the stars came in and sat next to us. So of course we looked a little and giggled, and they waved and that was it. Paul McGillion even came over and talked a little with us, and my friend was leaving the toilet and bumped into Teryl Rothery, now that was a surprise. But other than that, nothing happened. And that's the reason they are so relaxed about it. They don't need security at all.

We even left before them.

So thanks, MacGyverGrrl, for not stalking poor Harrison Ford. There were enough others without you there, I'm sure.

I agree Astra, if its an event that they planned to be at to meet fans, then yes there is nothing wrong with greeting them and introducing yourself. That is to be expected. But to lurk on the street just to "accidentally" bump into someone, that just has a skeevy undertone.

I went to the Sundance film festival a bout three years ago, just to walk around in fresh air and gallery hop in Park City. While I was strolling down the street with my husband and our friends, I literally ran into David Arquette. I didn't even recognize him, just apologized for the crash and went on my way. Some girl came up to me and asked me if I had gotten an autograph, and I asked her why, who was that? She looked at me like I was crazy and my friend laughed her butt off.

Oh well, that's just life. I'm way into the live and let live moment. Personally, it would be a trip to meet RDA and sit down and talk environmental, political and social issues. Is it likely to happen? Probably not, but if it does then that would be cool. If it never happens, well, its not like my life is any less full, rich and interesting.

Yikes, that's scary about RDA.com! I'm glad I never frequent that board.

If I were to see one of my favorite celebs on the street, I'd go up to them (if I could do it without being overly intrusive), politely introduce myself and tell them how much I appreciate their work, then go on my way. If they offered me an autograph or a photo or something, I'd sure accept, but I wouldn't pressure them for it.

This is, of course, only if I were to *truly* bump into them by accident ( yeah, right, in my dreams!). I have no patience whatsoever for stalkers, whether they're stalking celebs or noncelebs. People like that seriously need to get a life, and at least some of them need professional help.

Yep that's about it. And Eau de Cologne is water for cologne.

I would think that it would be refering to late July/early August, sorta 'water of late summer'... that's my interpretation, anyway. smile.gif

Eau de Cologne was originally named "Kölnisch Wasser" which, obviously, got translated quite literally. It was created in 1709 by an Italian.

Does anyone know how to pronounce the song's title?
I know how to pronounce "eau" but should Leo be pronounced with the same sound or shoud it be leo as in the zodiac sign?
Cause when I'd pronounce it like eau de leau (phonetically that is) it gives me the feeling like I'm somewhere on a mountain top in the Alps, yodelling... dry.gif

So "eau de toilette" is "water for the toliet"? huh.gif

Um, no. In this guess, 'toilette' means one's daily hygienic routine of bathing, combing one's hair, brushing one's teeth, applying make up, etc.

Eau d'leo could have many meanings--water for leo, leo water, leo's water. Without any context, it's just about impossible to determine the exact meaning of what RDA meant.

(My only credentials for this are that I've been speaking French for 28.5 years and English for a mere 23 years. smile.gif)
