Is this a common practice around the world? You have your graduation or senior year picture taken. (That would be your 12th year or last year of school for you EURO types. tongue.gif )

Just curious. How many people here still have theres?

That wouldn't neccesarily be our 12 th year Nymphy.
Every country seems to have a different system.

In Holland you go to elementary school for 6 years (with 2 years kindergarten before that)

After that you go to what you would call highschool (so no junior high) and depending on what education you go there 4, 5 or 6 years before -maybe- going to college or university or whatever biggrin.gif

No we don't always have our pic taken. Depends on the school I think.

We got a 6th year formal ball (ignoring the nursery and playschools we have before age 5, we have 7 years at primary school and up to 6 years at secondary school in Scotland. You can leave after 4th year or when you are 16 if you want.). We all got offical 6th year ball photos.
My folks have the one of me in a frame in their house (one of the rare photos of me in a dress blush.gif ). Us girls all wore ball gowns and the guys all looked very spiffy in their kilts biggrin.gif . I have a photo of me and my group of friends who I used to spend every waking moment with, all dressed up. happy.gif Fond memories…for the most part anyway! laugh.gif

Here in the US, most schools do senior portraits. The entire senior class gets their pictures taken and then you are offered a bunch of different options to buy the pictures. You also pick which one goes in the senior year book. Yes, I still have mine, after many years. No it willl not be seeing the light of day anytime soon.

In Spain we usually don't have pictures taken until you end your university studies. Depending on what your university is, it is a more or less formal thing.

It is now growing outdated but in my times, not that long ago, we got our picture taken during the year; then all pictures of everyone who managed to finish their studies--in our university after your regular five years you need to take one final, definitive exam with a tribunal where you need to "discuss" on whatever studies-related topic the members of the panel ask you to--are put together into a "class of XXX" kind of poster (even including the pictures of the main professors) which you can buy at the end of the year. Mine looks terrible.

Anyway, afterwards there is a formal, official ceremony at the University conference hall (mine is an old university) where either the Dean, or the President, or someone like that, hands you your diploma. Then you have "another" picture taken and that usually looks a bit better.

Yep, I have my senior pics still... and I actually really like them! We went to a professional photographer, and there are a couple of me in a formal dress, a couple shots of me in my favorite pink sweater, and a few shots taken of me in my black leather jacket. If I could post them, I would... along with a current pic. I look VERY different now than I did back then.

Me too, Macgirl. In high school my hair was very short. It is now very long, down past the middle of my back. My sense of style has changed too, but I still love my brown leather bomber.
