Since I have been on message boards for other TV shows, I was wondering what all everyone else was into on here?

I put the choices from what I am a fan of, but I did include "Other" so you could say something that may not be on there.

Only problem with the poll are you can only pick one. sad.gif

I watched all those shows, except Hardcastle. I also watched Remington Steele and Scarecrow and Mrs. King. biggrin.gif

Ahhh, the 80's. happy.gif

I used to go on message boards for Knight Rider. But those always seemed to have drama. Everyone seems to get along rather well on here. I know I had seen Rockateer on Knight Rider Online and the Knight Foundation message board.

I picked 'Airwolf' because that is the one I had recently been going through. I bought all 3 seasons on DVD and have seen every episode with the original cast. I will not watch Season 4 where they kill off Ernest Borgnine and have Jan-Michael Vincent go into a coma. I thought it was rather retarded they just scrapped the real characters and replaced them with totally different people. "Birds of Paradise" seems okay enough for a final episode to me. It is just as good as episodes for TV shows that do not actually end the series.

I also have all the DVDs for 'Knight Rider,' 'Quantum Leap,' and 'Greatest American Hero.' I have seen every single episode to all those shows as well. I only have Season 1 & 2 for 'Hardcastle & McCormick' as I am still waiting for a release of Season 3. I have Seasons 1- 6 of 'Magnum P.I.' as I am also waiting for the releases of Season 7 & 8. And I do have all 5 seasons for 'A-Team,' but I have never gotten around to watching them. That is the next one I will be going through.

That is all the TV shows I have revolving around the 80's. I made this poll concerning that decade because that is when 'MacGyver' first came on.

Without a doubt: Airwolf.
Crazy about anything that has something to do with aviation how could I pick any other show? Besides, it was my nickname on a airliner crew forum and I used to have it as a ringtone in my flight attendant days...

My ex happened to send me a link to the very first ep of Airwolf yesterday!
Is that a coincedence or what???

Airwolf rocks! But not the German dubbed version as Stringfellow has this really ridiculous name. (Sorry "neighbours"! Sorry Astra!)

Just the theme of this show makes my heart skip a beat. Not as bad as Mac does, but well, it skips a beat biggrin.gif

*goes off humming the Airwolf theme*

tu du du du du, du du du du, du du du du, dudu dudu...

No need to be sorry, Sheepy smile.gif

Although I watched the series now and then after we finally were able to in 1989 (like I watched all the other old shows they aired at that time like "Hulk", "Battlestar Galactica" or "Six Million Dollar Man") I don't remember much of it.

So the only thing from this poll I really was addicted to would be "Knight Rider".

Never got into "A-Team" though my father and brother liked it. Don't remember much of "Quantum Leap" either but I think I will watch that if they ever re-run it since it's an interesting idea, actually.

Maybe I just was overwhelmed with all this new stuff to keep track and it's all kinda blurred now. But "Knight Rider" was the one I was waiting the whole week for. It aired every Tuesday at 7 PM, and hence for years Tuesday was my favourite day of the week. I even got the sound of the whole episode at tape by using a microphone to hear it again afterwards (had no video recorder back then) - so nobody should dare to speak when watching it since that all would have been at the tape smile.gif

You also could buy radio plays at tape with the voices of the original German dubbing speakers. Did you have something like that as well? It's great merchandising.

And yay for "Lois & Clark" from the nineties as well smile.gif

Why wait for 'Quantum Leap' to come on re-runs?

You can buy all the seasons on DVD. Now I will warn you that songs used on the show will be removed from episodes on Season 2 & 3 and replaced with funny sounding music. They did that because Universal did not purchase the rights to produce them for DVD release. A lot of people complained about that and said they wished they had kept their tapes of the show off of Sci-Fi.

I only do buy DVDs if I'm really into something and know that I will watch it again and again and never get tired of it. My Stargate DVDs really were worth the money, and of course I intend to buy MacGyver as well.

But I won't spend money at something I maybe only watch once and am not even sure about whether I really will like it or not but just am a little bit curious. I'm not even sure they made it over to our part of the world yet, didn't keep track of it.

But I heard about the songs. I think there were other series that had this problem as well (O.C. California?)

Well, one more reason to wait for a re-run. And it's not as if I had nothing to do in the meantime, there are a lot of shows I only have heard about yet.

Well, 'Quantum Leap' happens to be a show that almost everyone who cares to see more than just two episodes sees the entire series of. Each episode ends with who Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into for the next one. That basically had people always want to watch it the next day to keep track. This was the only show I saw every episode of on regular television without having to buy DVDs to go through it. Trust me- if you are a fan of science-fiction and really dig into time travel- you will love it. The last season has him leap into famous people like presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Elvis Presley, etc. And the final episode has an unexpected ending if you have not already seen it.

I loved the "what if" factor of Quantum Leap. The show's premise of this guy switching lives with other people to fix what went wrong with history was a very interesting concept and a great way to take an alternate look at history.

Everytime they had Sam involved in a situation that actually occurred, they had to do it so that he changed it to happen that way.

Like when he leaps into Lee Harvey Oswald in the Season 5 premiere- he and Al both think that is their chance to keep the JFK assassination from happening. But he starts to suffer a mind merge and ends up doing everything the real Oswald originally did. And at the very second he returns to normal- he leaps out into a Secret Service agent and tries to save the president then. But it turns out he changed history by protecting Jackie Kennedy who was supposedly killed in the original history on the show.

Another case was when he leaped into Marilyn Monroe's car driver. He thought he could save her from the overdose that killed her. Supposedly on the show- she died before filming her last movie. Sam ends up changing it she dies after filming the movie.

They started to do strange things that very last season. The series had it so Sam could never leap outside of his lifetime. However, he actually leaps into his own great-grandfather during the Civil War as a Yankee captain in one of the last episodes. Al said that was possible since they shared the same DNA. This episode had Michael D. Roberts as a slave who supposedly was an ancestor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The final episode was originally meant to be a spin-off for a new series. They were going to have Al go into leaping at the end of the episode and end up in the future. But somehow they decided against that, so the ending was redone to close off the series. I read since this show had been created by the same guy who also did 'Magnum P.I.,' they were going to do an episode where Sam leaped into Thomas Magnum. A script had been done for him to find himself wearing a Hawaiian shirt and twinkling his eye just like Tom Selleck at the end of the introduction to that show.

I voted for Knight Rider because that is up there with Macgyer on my list. I also have the complete KR dvd set.

Both 'Knight Rider' stars Edward Mulhare (Devon Miles) and Patricia MacPherson (Dr. Bonnie Barstow) were each in episodes of 'MacGyver' on Season 2. Wonder why the Hoff himself never made an appearance?

Also from 'Knight Rider' were Michael D. Roberts and Bert Rosario who both played car thieves in the pilot episode for that. If anyone remembers seeing both an African-American and a Hispanic ripping off K.I.T.T. while Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) was busy talking on a payphone- you should know who I'm talking about. They had their own guest appearances on 'MacGyver,' but not the same season.

Well uh, rediscovering Magnum was a nice experience. I'd say MacGyver and Magnum were like the only two series named after their main character. They're very a much alike, but than again, not so much.

I liked the theme tune too. Except when we were trying to play the Airwolf game on my old computer. Always hitting the walls and dying!! It was a nightmare! The theme tune played on a loop during the game and when we were playing the whole house got sick of that tune. rolleyes.gif

From the list, I'd probably pick out Knight Rider, tho I'm not all nutso about it now, I don't think I missed it as a kid. Others I was a fan of would be The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, Remington Steele, Hunter and 21 Jump Street. Probly others, but that's what's off the top of my head. I remember watching Greatest American Hero and probably Magnum. I never missed Hunter. Friday night at 10 pm. lol.

I think I've said it before here, but I'll say it again. MacGyver is my favorite show of all time!!! biggrin.gif word1.png

That said, however- I do love many other shows from many decades- the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and some from the 90s and today (but not nearly as much)- and many from my childhood in the 1980s!!! smile.gif

I guess we're focusing on action/adventure shows and sci-fi.
Of the ones listed- I love all of them pretty much.

As a kid, I watched MacGyver, Knight Rider, and The A-Team all the time!!! And Magnum, P.I. I saw Airwolf some in passing (my older brother was big into that)
And I have actually yet to see Hardcastle & McCormick though I am familiar with the series. That is one I'd be interested in seeing- as somehow it went right past me when I was a kid. I also missed on seeing The Greatest American Hero and Quantum Leap- but I have since gone back and watched each series in its entirety and I love both shows!!! cool.jpg

Other 1980s favorites would include (and some of these are just shows I think are cool and want to see!)- Voyagers!, The Fall Guy, Automan, Manimal, The Powers of Matthew Star, Otherworld, Probe, Misfits of Science, The Phoenix, Street Hawk, Starman, My Secret Identity, Danger Bay, Sidekicks, Sledge Hammer and others I'm sure. Hunter is cool too- works for me!
I also love Remington Steele and Scarecrow and Mrs. King
and more...

(And I haven't even mentioned sitcoms, dramas, game shows and cartoons- seriously, don't get me started. wink.gif )

Does actually somebody know the series "MacGruder & Loud"? Whoever I ask, nobody seems to know this. It's also from the eighties I think.

It was about two police officers who were married but had to keep it hidden since they were partners and that's not allowed. So they lived in two seperate apartments next to each other which had a hidden door between them.

I liked that series. Since then I have never again seen it.

I am familiar with MacGruder & Loud. The name of course, is very similar to MacGyver. biggrin.gif

But yeah- this was a short-lived cop show from 1985- I think it had all of 15 episodes and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been shown much at all in syndication. It actually ended just a month or so before MacGyver began!

And of course, I did think of Miami Vice as another classic 80s show. But it's not one I'm really into- having not really watched the show, only in bits and pieces.
