Recently "The Dark Knight" came out and The Joker is pretty creepy and kind of like Murdoc. So both are in a city with maximum choice of weaponry. Who would win?
Murdoc's a professional hit-man. Which means his job is to kill people quickly and efficiently and although we never saw any evidence, we are told in various episodes that he was/is one of the best.
Joker is just a nutter.
So I would think Murdoc would make quick work of the Joker.

Murdoc is quick, neat and untraceable. The Joker just does things for no reason. Of course just like many other villains The Joker likes to do things big. A lot of damage, big explosions. Who would win? Depending on what they have in mind, I'd say we're off on a fair fight. However Murdoc seems to be planning ahead more likely than the Joker.

Are we talking Jack Nicholson's portrayal or Heath Ledger's portrayal?
I voted Murdoc--he's a professional, who by the time we are introduced to him he's been at it for at least 7 years, more like 10-15----I am guessing------The Joker is at for what days, weeks, months? Before that he was a thug, a badboy for organized crime----not a pro inmternational assassin
Both Murdoc and Joker are nuts
At least with Joker, we hear some of his back story
What happened to Murdoc to make him like that? For example, did have Murdoc have any military or intelligence background?
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
Mind you I didn't think much of Batman begins either.
Liz made the point I was trying to make. The joker is just a psychotic gangster, he's a bully who kills people only when both the need and opportunity arise.
Murdoc on the other hand, plans and creates the opportunities he needs to knock someone off.

Ok, I get the point Rocky, and mind you I'm not sure who would win (which is why I posted this). I just think you aren't giving the Joker enough of a chance. I mean he has bombs and he does plan, plus he has a high pain tolerance. I don't know, but it would be close.

The Joker plans to get things done and get rich indeed but there's indeed a difference between a professional hit man and psychopath. Murdoc does it for a living, the Joker does it for no reason at all. He just do those kind of things because he wants to, to no prevail. If the Joker wants to get rich, he'll just rob a bank. Murdoc gets paid. That's their biggest difference: Murdoc does it for ethical reasons.
The Joker has bombs, plans and high pain tolerance? Murdoc has dynamite, a flamethrower, mines, a rifle, a knife, guns, a rocket launcher and an axe. Plus he has the ability of surviving the most terrible accidents that has death as a consequence.
It might be a big fight between those two but I indeed think Murdoc might win this out.

Although it would be interesting to see the Jack Nicholson portrayal of The Joker against Murdoc, just because both of them have such a flair for the dramatic and morbid, dark comedy.
