Yesterday was my 11th anniversary. My husband decided to suprise me with a short horseback ride. Cool. So we go up the canyon to the ranch where the ride is taking place, meet the trail guide and the horses. So far so good. I've ridden horses most of my life, its not like I haven't done this before. I go to mount up, using a mounting block. So far so good. As I go to swing my leg over the horse, she totally freaks out, leaps forward and to the side, and launches me through the air. I'm thinking ok, gonna hit the groun, not a problem, I'll just land on my backside and walk away. Great plan, except I landed on the edge of my right foot, went spinning halfway around and wrenched the **** out of my right knee. So instead of a short gentle trail ride in the mountains among the beuatiful fal leaves, I had a pain filled car ride down the canyon to the emergency room. Much poking, prodding, twisting and x-rays and the doctor doesn't think I broke any bones in my knee (good news) but that I have a torn meniscus or ligament (not so good news). Today I'm spending on the couch with my laptop, Mac DVDs, and good drugs. I have no idea how I'm getting to work on Monday since I can't drive. If my boss is agreeable, I have projects where I can work from home so I won't have to use all my leave time. I need that for my Oregon road trip which is coming up in 19 days. Long story short--THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate being injured and not able to do what I need to do. I'm seeing an orthopedist next week, for a second evaluation, and further treatment options. Hopefully I'll be off the crutches when I go to Oregon. If not, that's gonna put a crimp in my beach walking. Oh well, guess I'll have plenty of time to work on theat fanfic I've been promising.
