I love seeing Mac get whumped, the more suffering the better.

Good Knight MacGyver is one of my favourite episodes...

I would have to say that passages is my favorite Mac getting whumped eppy. Crashing on top of a car has gotta hurt. *OUCH*

I voted Passages, but I also "liked" Trail of Tears and To Be a Man

It's weird, but the only time I actually go "ouch, that had to hurt" was in the episode The Battle of Tommy Giordano where he gets face slammed into a window. To this day, if I see that scene in the credits or if I watch that episode, I'm like... man, that had to hurt.

As far as the choices, Faith, Hope and Charity had to be the one that seemed the most painful to me. That and I love the fact that he got called a walking accident... because it's SO true. XD

The cool part about the face slam is the way it was filmed. Filmed from the inside, you see him coming and than *bang*, no wonder he held his hand over his face. He probably saw stars everywhere.

Having just watched 'Passages' (in which Mac isn't wearing a shirt) I have a question:

MacGyver has now spent five and a bit seasons getting beaten up, cut, thrown off things, over things and into things, shot and generally badly treated.
How come he's not completely covered in nicks, scrapes and scars? Would have been easy enough make-up and better continuity to show some, surely?

I just chalked that up to being a TV show. I remember thinking that myself a few times.

MacGyver is just incredibly lucky, which they poke fun at in Walking Dead where he owes the spirits a goat from all the luck he's had. XD If he was a real person... I highly doubt he would have lived passed the first episode, let alone 7 seasons and two movies of close calls. XD

Even if he did survive all that, he would most likely have a LOT of physical problems as he got older. I remember after the third season, RDA said in an interview he had to have back surgery from injuring himself during filming. Didn't he have to have foot surgery too?

So, I would assume MacGyver had some pretty expensive medical bills. XD

I haven't seen walking dead yet, but it's good that they make the nod to his incredible good luck!

He did have surgery on (I think) both his feet, but I'm not sure if it was anything to do with filming MacGyver. He seems pretty accident prone off the set as well as on it - broken arm(s) as a kid and again during 1st season, bad knees, concussion, the list goes on...

I agree that it would be nice to see some continuity with scars from previous wounds, and yet in all of the tv series and movies with sequels that I've seen, it seems to be extremely rare for the characters to show past "wear and tear"...Go figure, you'd think it'd at least be an easy and obvious thing for the producers to do!

Mac is put in a jam by the East Germans, this one had a sense of adventure and a time limit. Mac could die if he did not get the antidote. Today this episode might seem dated to those fans who did not experience or remember the Cold War era when the world was split between East and West. In general a good episode.

SORRY Kiwitek forgot to mention the name of the episode Nightmares, the one with the East German agents grabbing Macgyver.

I like second seasons episode D.O.A. Macgyver, where Mac get shot on head and looses his memory, but it is not on the list.

Has anyone ever added up exactly how much damage Mac takes over the course of the series? I'm curious.

Season 6 alone is enough to floor any normal human...

Somewhere I guess. Maybe each time Mac took in a blow or got shot they should've showed a health meter or something.

Mac got poisoned in Nightmares, shot in To Be A Man, D.O.A. MacGyver, Back From The Dead, Cease Fire, Humanity, Trail of Tears, Good Knight MacGyver part 2 and in The Stringer which also resulted in a broken arm. He got blown up and blinded in The Negotiator, had a car accident in The Outsiders, thrown over the railing of a garage to the top of a car in Passages, got blown up again in Blind Faith, stepped in a wolves/bear trap in Faith Hope & Charity, got blown up once more in Strictly Business, poisoned again in The Walking Dead and found himself in the middle of tear gas in Trail To Doomsday not to mention he really hurt himself by jumping out of the window.

This is for all the big injuries not counting headblows or KO's though he got his fair share of that too. Check out The Golden Triangle, Cease Fire, The Ten Percent Solution (twice), Two Times Troubles, The Lost Amadeus, Bitter Harvest, Good Knight MacGyver part 1.

Actually that's quite an amount of episodes but what did you expect? Mac is tough to kill.

Rocket, I hear ya. Mac took a beating in Season 6, more so then any other season, I feel. Makes you wonder how many surgeries Mac had. It's no wonder he and Pete were such good friends... Pete probably had to take care of him all the time. That and I'm sure MacGyver was an insurance nightmare. XD

There is no screen big enough to show an accurate luck meter for Mac...

XD I'd say when his luck meter is down, he gets whumped. The less luck he has, the worse the whump.

I wonder how much he pays out for physical therapy....

He was told he was a terrible patient. LOL

I'm sure he's a hoot in the hospital. XD Has anyone ever watched someone come out of anesthesia? My Dad had surgery a couple of years ago, and when he came out of the anesthesia, he was hitting on all the nurses. He had no memory of this, and being the shy and reserved person that he is, was mortified when my sister and I told him about it. His nurse, who was VERY German, took it in good stride. lol

I can see Mac doing that. Depending on the seriousness of the injury, he'd probably be climbing the walls after a day, and most likely pushing himself too hard to get out. I've noticed he's actually rather hard on his body, even if he's been seriously injured. The magic of television. XD

He is. I think it's because he sees completing the mission/saving the day as being far more important than his own wellbeing. Also television magic plays a part, of course

It's a bit of a sportsman thing too - you see/know people who push on well after they should have thrown in the towel because they just HAVE to finish the race, win the fight or the game or can't let their team mates down.

I think with MacGyver, it's a combination of both. I think the fact that he's athletic gives him the edge to do more then what's normal, so to him, sucking it up and doing what whatever needs to be done is the right thing to do... otherwise he would just feel guilty for not doing anything at all. Combine that with his usual stubbornness, well... there you have it. XD

And yes, my Dad was very embarrassed. He was pretty much acting like he was intoxicated... and everyone that came by was his new best friend. The funny part was that he had NO memory of acting that way. The good thing is that we have no problem laughing at ourselves, so it's only embarrassing at the time. lol

Well, I could probably use the idea as an add on (or even an ending) to another story. I want to write a sequel to my Hockey Lesson story about skiing. I guess I could have some fun and put Mac in the hospital... the poor man. So abused... lol
