I just found an interesting little bit of information.

According to RDA in a recent interview. The biker jacket he wears in some MacGyver episodes was the same jacket he wore to the casting reading when he got offered the part of MacGyver. So that was actually his jacket in those episodes.

And in fact after just thinking about it, he wears that same jacket in the 1992 Arsenio Hall interview (which you can download from our interviews page)

Well, well how about that? Da man has taste for fashion? Makes it cheaper too. No money to be payed at the costume designers so more money for special effects.

I nearly cried when they 'blew up' the leather jacket he was wearing in 'Family Matters'... I know that it was just a stunt and they probably didn't REALLY destroy a leather jacket for that... but still:

It is a nice jacket!

Cheer up -- standard practice is to make duplicates of any costume item that's going to be damaged, distressed, or destroyed. (We used to call these Stunt Costumes.) So they probably did destroy a leather jacket, but not the leather jacket.

It is a very weird feeling to take a perfectly good item you've just made -- a velvet doublet, say, or a dress -- and rip gashes in it and shred the elbows and yank off the buttons and stomp on it and throw it under a dusty table. But it's not a bad way to blow off stress. (It's easier if it's an ugly design.)

Yeah- that's why there are so many of the "Indy" jackets that had to be handy for the Indiana Jones movies- with all the wear and tear those things took. (And take- as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is currently filming, with first trailer coming this Thanksgiving and movie out in theaters May 22, 2008!!! Yeah- I'm just a little excited!)

Banlu.. if you watch the interview on Arsenio(see my first post).. he says that this is how he was dressed when he went to the reading.

Also the brown jacket isn't a biker jacket.

Anybody know where I can get a black biker jacket like Mac wore? Thanks!
