The following announcement has been posted on gatecon.com confirming that RDA will take part in the convention.

We are in the process of working out the final arrangements but we can now confirm that Richard Dean Anderson and Capt. Paul Watson of The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) will be attending Gatecon 2008 - the Family Reunion in Vancouver.

Gatecon 2008 will be focusing it's charity fund-raising activities to support SSCS and its endeavors to protect the worlds oceans and ecosystems (www.seashepherd.org). Consequently, Friday August 22 will be a very special day as several exclusive Sea Shepherd activities will take place involving Richard Dean Anderson and Capt. Watson.

For Stargate fans we can also confirm that in a rare public appearance, Richard will participate in the entire weekend activities. Legends Memorabilia will be bringing other surprise guests to the event which will run from Aug 21-24, 2008 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver.

I literally ran up and down the hallway of my house four times jumping up and down and then called my best Stargate friend.

I didn't have to explain who I was or what I was talking about when I said...

"It is Vancouver, but it's not the Creation con in April. It's Gatecon in August."

Those were honestly my first words.

She was like SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

And thus plans were begun.

They will be finalized at the Stargate con next weekend in New Jersey in person. (She's flying up from Texas and I'm driving down from Maine.)

Ticket sales are on hiatus until November 4, when Gatecon UK finishes up (hope you had fun Diney and Ann-Marie!).

I will be buying one at that time.

Since I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I've been to Vancouver a few times, I'm more than willing to play "point person" for organising a get-together for the MOL crew at Gatecon . . .

I just thought of something........we didn't exchange gifts this year for our anniversary since we planned to go to Oregon and that was going to be our gift. I didn't get to go and now Jade keeps saying he wants to get something for me. I think he's still feeling guilty because of the horse and knee injury and all. I guess I could always tell him if he wants to give me something a trip to Vancouver in August 2008 might be REALLY NICE!

He wants to talk more about it when he gets home in the morning, but he's interested. Hey, he's willing to take vacation days (he has to work that weekend) so now its just a matter of logistics.

Its looking very promising for me.........300 days. Yeah, I think I can make this work.

Jade mentioned tonight that his boss wants to go scuba diving. I suggested he take his dive gear and his boss to Seattle and dive the Sound while I'm in Vancouver. He said hmm........thinking about it now.

Hey Ratty, I just got a new camera a couple of months ago and it takes some nice pictures. My husband's telephoto lens will fit on it too, so now I just need to do some experimenting to see how a 35 mm lens and a digital camera will effect the quality of the photo. If they suck, then I have plenty of time to save the $$ to buy a new lens.

My husband just realized that RDA is going to be at the convention and.................HE WANTS TO GO TO THE CONVENTION!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes he amazes me. So, it looks like we are going.

Eagerly marking time on my calendar until the tickets go on sale. Anybody know how much the con tickets cost?

According to a thread over at rdanderson.com:

The VIP pass was $304 US and the Gate pass was $274 US.

Not confirmed at this time.

That's all I know for now. We'll have to wait until Nov 4 to find out, I guess...
