This looks to be shaping up to be an interesting issue which could have the biggest impact on us as the viewer.

Basically it seems that actors get paid a certain amount each time their performance is broadcast, but they're not currently being paid for broadcasts over the internet.

So to put it in perspective RDA isn't getting any money from CBS for the free broadcasting of MacGyver episodes on their "TV Classics" site.

I knew that was coming... it was an issue with the writer's strike, and will probably be a central issue with the actors union.

Oy!

I think - right now - (in the US), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is having a heart attack. With all the legal issues the new internet usage of viewing broadcast TV series episodes brings about, they're going to be busy for a looooong time. And this is after all the DVD stuff. It just never stops. What they need is someone with the foresight to anticipate these evolving media usage issues - because right now they are playing catch-up in a big way. Wake up people... and smell the coffee!

That which has been established will endure even with time and at a distance.

I can't tell you anything about what happens after the cameras go off, mostly because I'm usually unconscious by then.
