I've heard of this game described as a MacGyver-type game because you are given items and have to find ways to use them.
http://www.zackandwiki.com/My brother and I used to enjoy this game pretty well- which has some MacGyver-esque qualities. It's called The Incredible Machine and it's one of those puzzle type games, where you put pieces together to build a machine. It's pretty neat.

like "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis"
http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/game/31And even before that- "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"
http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/152The newer Indiana Jones games- like "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine" and "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb" are fun too- but a 3D environment and definitely quite different from the more classic late '80s and early '90s LucasArts games. In fact, among the LucasArts classics, I'd also recommend the Monkey Island games.
And here's a MacGyver character someone created for a Mortal Kombat game I posted about some time ago

Here's the link to my original post on that-
