Hi all. I love reading everyone's fan fiction. I just wish that I had the time to compose my own. I remember reading, somewhere on the web, a MacGyver fan fiction called "Ice Cold In Alaska" by Elaine Stouse. She wrote a few of the "episodes" on www.macvs.com for the virtual seasons which I can no longer access (site down?). Does anyone have a digital copy or know how to contact her to get one? I'd LOVE to read it again. Thanks!

It is a good story -- I remember reading it about a year ago. A shame there aren't more solid fics like that out there for the series (although some come pretty dang close). I don't have a copy of it unfortunately. I tried to access it through another site, but it's down as well. Maybe some sites have an expiration date?

Hi...
That story is on http://www.rdads.com/index.html BUT, apparently the site is down at the moment. It's Part 4 of a series of stories, 01 - All in the Past, 02 - One Moment of Truth, 03 - Take Courage From The Heart, 04 - Ice Cold In Alaska, and 05 - One Night In Bangkok. Excellent series!
I've been looking for the stories on the www.macvs.com site using the Wayback Machine, but I couldn't get through. I could only get the stories by S. Schwager, VS8, and no other authors. It kinda stinks... I lost all the stories in a computer crash and I couldn't get the stories back.
Try mailto:Elaine.Stouse@Virgin.net. It's an older email link and I'm not sure that it works, but it can't hurt to try. Good luck!

Yeah the virtual seasons were prettty good. They were actually some of the first MacGyver fan fiction that I read. I tried reading them again sometime last year and the site was no longer up...I think I will have to check out this wayback machine thing...

Speaking of www.macvs.com, does anyone else wonder what happened to MacGyver at the end of the 9th virtual season? Part one (season finale) was posted but an 10th season was never started.
You can access any nonexistent webpage with this site.
A few parts of the stories I can't seem to access, but most of them are there.
And just a bit off-topic: I just want you all to know that I read the fanfiction here and love it. Two names especially come to mind: MacsChick and Lothilil. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for that archive site. I have been very busy downloading the stories. I printed a bunch of them today to take with me to Chicago. They will be lighted than lugging Harry Potter through the airport.

I don't know Turtle. I can get 8 and 9 but nothing from 10. For me, when I go into the link all the pages, even the 2005 ones reference season 9 with wait for season 10.
Those computer gremlins are with the system again.

The Wayback machine sems to have a mind of its own... I check occasionally to see if some files turn up... sometimes they do, more often than not, they don't.
I just wish I could have contacted the person who owned www.macvs.com... I woulda' offered to pay the hosting fees for at least another year. Like RDAD's... I have most of the stories from there, but not all. *sigh*

As far as I can tell, there wasn't a season 10. They ended it at the end of season 9 and REALLY left us hanging with MacGyver's fall from a building. I need to know what happened!!!!!
I was lucky, I managed to get most of the episodes saved while the site was still active.

I have Episode 921 - Season Finale - Box 4112, By Angus C. Devereaux (Aired 5/15/2000) then "The MacGyver Virtual Ninth Season has ended. Stay tuned for the Tenth Season"
That's it... I don't know where I got that other fic from... probably mislabeled. *sigh*

There's a plot bunny for you all... save MacGyver's life.
I finally got VS8 and 9. Took me two days of knocking everyone off the Internet (I have the hub on my computer, so I get to hog all the bandwidth...) but I got them all. Yipee!

maybe we should post them here.
or are they under copyright?
I think you'd have to have the author's (Angus C. Devereaux ) permission, but this fic doesn't have his e-mail address on it, but a prior fic does...
(the forum page won't let me post his email address... but I have it from another fic in VS8)
About the Author:
Angus C. Devereaux has been prolific in writing poetry and fan fiction for over 15 years. He collects bookmarks and floppy disks and welcomes any contribution to his collections. He has written the MacGyver Virtual Eighth Season story "Sirocco", episode #19.
And this was on the fic "Sirocco":
Angus C. Devereaux has written numerous poems and short stories and, in recent years, some fan fiction. He graduated from U.Y.N. in 1995 with a degree in Information Sciences. From his love of books and computers stems the hobbies of collecting bookmarks and floppy disks. He welcomes contributions to his collection.
Story and original characters are copyright 1998 by Angus C. Devereaux. MacGyver and related characters are the property of Paramount Pictures Television and Winkler/Rich Productions. This is a work of fan fiction and is not intended to infringe upon those rights.

But it can't hurt to try to ask him...

It would be great if someone could finish that last episode and save MacGyver. I wish that we could post their episodes for others here to read...there are some really good ones.

All we would have to do is get the author's permission. All... *sigh*
The MacVS site is still registered, and active until Febuary of 2008. I got the registrant's name and info. But she's only the owner/administrator of the site... but maybe she can give us a clue of the authors' intentions after the site went down.
Maybe see if it's for sale...? (me and buying domains... it's like a drug.)
QUOTE (Rockatteer @ 24 July 2007 - 09:15 PM)
has the whole virtual seasons web site gone?
It only exists in the memory on cyberspace. I'm sure the owner took the site down because it wasn't worth the cost of keeping it up. Though if she wanted to sell, it would have been worth more developed.
I've bought and sold domains from $25.00 for and undeveloped site to $2500.00 for a semi-developed site. I think the newsletters were worth more, and I threw them in for free. Lessons learned...

Don't be silly -- why switch to decaf when we're going to be up late reading?
