Wow, that's right! Well, Friday the 13th is one of my lucky days. I think I'll celebrate!

So far, it's been a very good day. Especialy since traffic was better than usual. I think all the triskadecaphobes stayed home.

Ok, I don't know if it matters to you, but I flipped on the news after getting home this afternoon and learned that Tim Russert died. While I consider myself to be an independent, I watch the news extensively and care very much about the current state of affairs. Tim Russert presented the news and the issues without declaring a side and was impartial, intelligent and full of life and integrity. This news hit both my husband and I hard as we had grown up watching Russert, and remember the presidential elections, and world events that he covered. This news added to my long day and plenty of stuff going on in my life is making me unlikely to declare it a happy day, not a bad day, but a day of contemplation. Tim Russert by the way just in case was the same age as RDA. Something to contemplate. No one lives forever on this earth.

I know, I heard about that. It's always shocking for some reason when it is someone well known like that, even though we know that death is an inevitable part of life. People at my office said that 58 is a young age to die, and given recent life expectancy statistics, they're right, once again proving that RDA is not old (I get steamed every time I hear that)! My stepdad is 61, and it made me think about both of them, actually. We will miss you, Tim!

Yeah, 58 is young. But in thinking about that we all need to live our lives to the fullest, be people about faith, family, friendships and leaving a legacy that people can remember and be proud of. I have personally experienced losing people that I loved when they were not that much older than Tim Russert. My dad died at age 64 and my father in law died at age 60. That motivates my thinking in part--to live my life for God and for my family and to leave a positive legacy for my kids and the world.

Today was a good day! The guy I work with... the one who drives me up a wall... was on vacation! Whoot! A Goober-free day!! I could use more of 'em!

Today was Friday the 13th, huh? LOL..somehow I missed it. I'm not superstitious, but I've always liked the number 13. Of course I've always been an odd one...

What's so scary about Fridays? I love Friday! (Especially T.G.I. Fridays- great restaurant AND ABC programming block!)
I don't have any triskadeskaphobia and I don't know why hotels won't build a 13th. floor- seriously, that's a bunch of hooey.
On the other hand, I did cancel that vacation to Crystal Lake...


(And on a more serious note- I am sorry to hear of Tim Russert's passing. 58 does seem to be pretty young to die- I just read the other day that life expectancy is up to about 78 or so. But of course, death can come at any time- some guys don't even live to be 16- in fact, I've known a few people who died younger than that.

(There's a great song by Switchfoot called "Gone" that expresses this notion really well- for fans of good music, I'd recommend it- and all their albums, really. )

Ughhh I had surgery on Friday the 13th...I was pretty freaked out going into the hospital, let me tell you! And, they originally had me scheduled on the 12th but called to change it....
all went well, but then I had bad luck two days later when debris on the highway hit my car and messed it up...ironically, on the way back to the hospital for a check up!!!!
Actually, the nurse said something weird happened to my heart rate while I was out, but then it recovered. hmmmmmm?? Wonder if I should be superstitious?
I'm only 31 and have no heart problems whatsoever, so that was odd to hear.

I was arriving in Scotland that day. Obviously a good day for me, the plane didn't crash and the airline didn't lose our luggage. Now if our beer just arrives home safely......
