Lisa Woodman's home in 'Hearts of Steel' was shot on location at 4769 West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver.

Pete's/Mac's Ranch scenes in Serenity were filmed on location @ the Butters' Ranch located near Benchlands, Alberta about a 25 minute drive from Cochrane, AB.

Yes, MiracleMac - it was IPSCo steel plant on Mitchell Island. RSR(Richmond Steel Recycling) was/is also on the same site and (apparently) has been used in several films where cars need to get crushed up a bit on screen. Thus - have we seen this site before in another episode or two?

edit: Hey look at this .. seems like the 'Hearts of Steel' episode was partially based on or adapted from a reality situation that was unfolding there at the time and at that very plant, also explains why the plant was dormant & available for filming back in the day:

, I've been looking for that steel factory since I saw that episode, actually I little suspected that it was filmed somewhere near Mitchell Island. There was also some bridge visible in epsode in background so it helped to find.
