We all know the Phoenix Fundation was in ARCO Center, Los Angeles (2nd season) and the Qube, Vancouver (3-6 seasons). But where is situated the building where Mac and Pete work in the 1st season?

I coudn´t find it, and I was trying it in a long time.

Those houses maybe were brand new back then, because that place looked pretty clean in the episode and we hardly can see any trees as we see now in the street view images.

“Deerholme” was built in 1913 by Vancouver’s 1901 Mayor, Colonel Thomas Owen Townley, and his wife Frances.
The home was designed by their son Fred Laughton Townley, who had just returned from the University of Pennsylvania where he had received a degree in architecture. The mansion’s design, reflects his training, as it is based on the Georgian Revival Style, popular with Americans, so proud of their Colonial roots. The Townley’s enjoyed their estate until 1920 when they rented the house to the Cunningham family before selling the property to the Vancouver Anglican College. The college held the building until 1940, when it was again sold and was owned by various owners until being purchased by the City in 1979. The house is now designated as a historical home.

Bar's back lot was filmed in two places. When we see those doors and windows, that building was in Bridge Studios. But when we see car driving away from alley, it was filmed in Wingmans Bar location.

That same building in Bridge Studios was also used in Deadly Dreams and Two Times Trouble.

wouldn't it be so cool if you were a Mac fan and lived in a home all your life and eventually found out that it was filmed in an episode. I think I would die if I found that out. Would be amazing

Certainly that would be awesome. I would be speechless if I would notice during house renovation, that my house was used in one of the episode. I would have ruined original decor. If contractor is asking where we're going to put this demolition waste, I would say You don't mind if you put it back to place where you took it?

The magic of movies or tv shows. How a famous place of a city can become in a house of a character (For ex. Observatory Griffith) or how 2 places separated miles away one from other can be nearby or even to be one only place (Outside and inside...).


I bet someone of us would like spend a period of time in the houseboat, apartment, the Phoenix Foundation... The Venice apartment was for sail, but I bet if would have been in rent someone of us had rented for some days. The most nearby place is the Cadillac Hotel.

Some studios and apartments in The Qube (Vancouver) are in rent. But I was wandering that if I went there I would lose the charm of being in the Phoenix Foundation or not. Inside is very different from the set.


I don´t know what did they do with sets when Macgyver finished. It would be interesting people could visit them. For example the real set of Cheers is situated in a Museum in Hollywood and many people go there. Some people go to Boston to see it outside, and other people go to Hollywood to see it inside.

That whole building was gone after 2001.
