I had a bizarre weekend that explains the delay in posting the next part of my current fanfic. I arrived home late on Saturday night after visiting some friends and was getting ready for bed when I encountered a strange intruder, a freakish creature--on my roof! My apartment has two levels--an upstairs and a downstairs. The bedroom and the master bathroom are upstairs. Well, the building has two levels of roofing as well--the main roof, and the the roof below my master bedroom that extends over my front porch. Anyway, I live in a relatively safe neighborhood, and it is summer, and I'm on the second floor, so I thought I would open my window for awhile before bed to get some fresh air. Well, after I opened my window I noticed this guy standing there, right below my bathroom windows (again, on the roof of my porch)! At first, I honestly didn't think much of it. For one thing, he didn't look like your usual Central Casting vagrant or "tough." He looked more like this regular guy. I almost thought he was a neighbor up to some Saturday night craziness, so I asked him casually, "What are you doing on the roof?" That's when he turned weird on me and began to look pale, glancing around distractedly and uncertainly. He wouldn't respond to my question, and that's when I began to get scared. I was behind a window screen, but I was afraid he was going to attack me. I kept staring at him, trying to see him, trying to figure him out, but in the darkness all I could see was the outline of a profile.
I must've caught him off guard because not long after that, he darted off like a gazelle, gracefully running and leaping off the roof into the bushes below! I mean, the second floor is not that high, but I was surprised he didn't injure himself after taking a leap like that! That's when I called the police and they did an extensive patrol of the area, but they didn't find the perverted Romeo. They told me he might have been a Peeping Tom and that he most likely won't return--well, I certainly hope not. Needless to say, I was frightened and didn't get to sleep until four o'clock in the morning after sorting everything out with the police and trying to calm myself. I was exhausted and scared and really didn't feel much like writing. Everything is better now, but that experience really threw me. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt and the neighbors heard him on the roof and had called the police as well. So, that explains where I've been. It still freaks me out.
