The Olympics are one of the reasons I have not been hanging around much here lately. They are also the reason I've been living on a combination of insomnia, caffeine and sugar...sounds a great deal like my college senior lifestyle. The other is I have been crazy busy between work and getting ready for a little trip to Vancouver.
I have been loving watching Michael Phelps in his drive for 8 gold medals. Love him or hate him, you gotta admit, he's one heck of an athlete.
As for women's team gymnastics, i think the biggest problem for the USA team was Martha Karolyi and her big mouth. Instead of keeping the girls focused on doing their best and letting their routines do the talking, she kept harping about how the Chinese team was cheating by using underage competitors. I think she was a huge distraction to the girls and they kept her comments in their minds instead of concentrating on their own routines.
Martha's comments also reflected badly on the sportsmnaship of the USA gymnastics team. You can't help but notice the differene in the performances in the team competition and the individual all-around. Obviously, the Americans girls have something, coming in gold and silver. I also couldn't help but notice that Martha was nowhere to be seen.
And if you can't find your favorite sport broadcast on TV, you can find it online. I watched a bunch of the 3-day event (equestrian/horse) this way.

Rock, I'm latinamerican and I live in the Caribbean, dear. Actually I live in the Enchanted Island of the Caribbean: Puerto Rico. We DO have big cats. In Puerto Rico there is a natural BIG cat. Is called Leonazo. Suposedly is a breed that "mutated" from northamerican mountain wild cats. How in the heck that mountain cat got here (Puerto Rico)? No idea. Most probably how most of the NEW "exotic" animals have been appearing for the last 2 decades: an exotic pet collector brought it to the island. Althought the leonazo has been here for the past 200 years so no idea how the original one came to the island. Currently we have snakes, alligators, some kind of spider monkey, something that looks like a tiny kangaroo (that are running wild right now, terrorizing local farmers and Natural Department is trying to catch it without much luck), ostriches, wolves, geckos, and komodo dragons. Puerto Rico gets a lot of unnatural animals thanks to so many ignorant people wanting to get a "cool" pet and then, when they find out they can't take care of it anymore they let them loose. And there are Lions, leopards, cheetahs and other big cats here. That's why zoos are for, you know? I never claimed that the cheetah was natural from Jamaica XD Jamaican runners may be trained in the zoos The Puerto Rico's zoo in Mayaguez has a "runner track". Supposedly the idea was to foment locals to make their daily jogs in the zoo. Crazy idea! I woulnd't be anywhere near a zoo to do my excercises!! XD In October 20, 2002 a jaguar escaped her cage and after attacking people and officers the police gun her down

In natural habitat Jamaica has at least 200 different species of birds, including parrots, hummingbirds, cuckoos and a cute little green bird called Todys. There are also frogs, lizards, turtles and - oh my god! - crocodiles!! Jamaica has a zoo in Old Hope Road, Kingston called "Hope Zoo". Aparently the zoo is in danger of closing down, but still house wild pigs, aligators, a monkey, cranes, macaws, ducks, pelicans, geese, flamingoes, hawks, south-american tapirs, snakes, peacocks, owls and lions... so perhaps instead of cheetahs, jamaican runners train with lions! *hides under bed*
