I found this on imdb while looking for research for a story i'm writing. There may aready be something on the site already but I thought I would post it anyway.

The surname "MacGyver" is of Scottish origin, first found in early times in Dumbarton. The clan motto, "Numquam obliviscar" translates as "I will never forget."

Kinda cool huh.
