Yes, Mac lost. But he made a pretty darn good showing -- especially since he was up against someone who (a) really exists, (b) is currently active, and (c ) is also currently very popular with the wired world. From the comments, it seems that some people were voting for Coulton partly because he wasn't fictional.

(Don't tell anyone, but actually, MacGyver is real and Coulton is imaginary.)

(And I got around the Santa problem -- my presents are all delivered by the Easter Bunny! Of course, they get here kind of late, but that's okay.)
