I'm sorry I miss read what you said. I still think the mistake of not using Sam as the Young MacGyver was stupid to say the least. At least Dalton James looks like RDA.

My thoughts were the same as yours when I heard the premise of Young MacGyver - how could Mac have a nephew if he didn't have any brothers or sisters.

Unless, I thought, it was "nephew" because I remember when I was a kid a few of my parents' friends were introduced to me as "Auntie" and "Uncle". I later found out that they weren't blood relatives.

But the use of the MacGyver surname doesn't work, unless his family name was changed by deed poll or deliberately chosen as that by his birth parents.

Would have still liked to have seen these shows, though.

I thought it was a spinoff also. I guess it wasn't.
