A group of scientists from Tel Aviv University have discovered that by meticulously controlling a laser's heat they can use it to weld the skin shut.

I'm really surprised it's taken this long for someone to figure this out. They've been using heat to cauterizing wounds for years.

Really! You'd think that this technology would have been long since developed. Beats cauterizing your bullet wounds with a fireplace poker! blink.gif OW!

They just wait til the last moment and then rescue themselves!

Even without lasers, this could surely be done with a temperature controlled soldering iron type device.

They just need to find the right temperature to use. Melt the skin without causing burning to the underlying flesh.

Burn specialists must know what temperatures do what damage to skin and flesh, so surely it wouldn't be that hard to work out.

Maybe just a case of people not thinking outside the square, which is one of the problems I think the medical profession can encounter sometimes. They do tend to become a little entrenched in certain ways of doing things at times.
