A burglary in the New Zealand township of Whangarei has a link to MacGyver.
QUOTE (The Northern Advocate newspaper)
A Whangarei mother is distraught after thieves stole a priceless bone carving belonging to her late daughter.
The bone carving was given to the terminally ill child by her nurse on the brink of meeting her idol, television's MacGyver, in 1987 - thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Shelley took "her little piece of New Zealand" with her to Vancouver where she met MacGyver - Richard Dean Anderson - and escaped normal life.
I hope whoever stole the carving could read this story and return it to the owner.
Hopefully someone will recongnize the story and return the item. How sad is this world when we steal from terminally ill children or children in general.
well they didn't actually steal from the girl, she's been gone for several years now I think.
It was just an item in the house they broke in to.
I can't really understand why they took it... it has no monetary value... but then I can't understand why someone would break into a house and take anything which wasn't theirs.
Yes I read the story that she had died several years ago. But still to steal something that meant so much to her and her family. Makes me sick to my stomach. Why are people so cruel and mean?
